This was the first time I encountered Tristar Blaster. Of course I wanted to try it out, so I targeted a square next to me. I was low on hp...
Bleh.
Also, when you kill yourself, it's written 'Killed by a soldier' in the mortem.

I dunno, after that Revenant's Launcher incident waaaay back in 0.9.9.0, I've never aimed any gun just one tile away from me.  I always aim it at some dude that I want to shoot at -- it might take me a little more time to position the cursor, but I find that to be the safest way to use any weapon.  =)

When I find new weapons, I go to wiki and spoil myself. It's something I'd take back, but I've seen almost everything now anyways, so it's too late.

Anyway, I never killed myself like this, though I managed to nuke myself after misunderstanding the description of angel arm.

For me, it was the BFG 10K.  ;)

(I just looked up the mortem)  It was my first Angel of 100 game back in version 0.9.9.1 and I was on level 71.  I didn't know it could damage me and I was standing too close to a wall when I fired it at a group of Arch-Viles and Barons.  Back then, I was a newbie and more open to save-scumming, so I felt justified in a bit of cheating to get that game back.  After all, considering that the BFG9000 doesn't damage you, it seemed reasonable to assume that the BFG10K wouldn't either.

(Incidentally, I have long since stopped save-scumming;  I feel it would diminish my victory if I cheated to get it)  :)
