This. Was. Awesome!  The last time that I played A100 was sooo long ago, and even then, it was with MAc.  I've not really tried to do a pistol run on A100, let alone a single pistol run.

The early game was tough, because I did not beeline to MSs, taking two levels of WK in between to build my Stormbolter Pistol that saw action all through from dlev 15.  For the early game, I was relying on first the Shotgun and then the Combat Shotgun when it appeared.  The tactical boots are still my favourite for their added speed and dodge -- you can see the Scout in me showing up once again.

Once I had MSs, it started to become more comfortable.  What really made it much less taxing was the investment in Intx2 -- that really made the difference for the Sharpshootin' Technician.  =D

SoGx5 is quite ridiculous, as noted by many.  I was knocking back almost everyone all the time.  Since they kept getting knocked out of my LOS, I had to keep re-aiming, which was a little on the annoying side.

A relatively early Onyx pack followed by a Nano pack made me decide to assemble the Cybernano Armour, a most worthy choice since I was literally walking around in an armour that eats 8 points of damage without getting destroyed.  Talk about a walking fortress!

Demolition ammo assembly on a pistol I found was done to make sure that I could bust holes in walls without wasting two slots of inventory (one for the Rocket Launcher, one for the rockets).  The place was literally crawling with mods, so I just assembled any random thing that I could.

I kept the Butcher's Cleaver for those rare moments that I could kill 'em Mancubi with melee to level up, but I think I might have just successfully done that once or at most twice.  The RNG tempted me with the GCB, but really my bulk-modded Stormbolter Pistol was adequate.

Why bulk-modded?  I wanted it to have an even number of shots before reloading (6 times vs 4 -- quite a difference).

Really though, once the build got going, everyone had to fall to my superior 10mm weapon.  There were at least three times where I was spawned in a room with a cluster of Viles and Mancubi/Barons/Revenants, and all I did was just spam the fire button and reloading.  Before long, all of them were dead.  I took a lot of damage when I started moving though, because all that armour is just so bloody heavy.

That said, I think that if I want to use the MSs build for AoMr, I might need to get used to the fact that I am not going to get advanced assemblies for use.  That extra level or two of WK in between costs a lot in terms of actual killing for the XP.

Anyway, first A100 for the new release.  Huzzah!  =D

I'm hoping to make a cybernano cybernetic armor some day.

How is demolition ammo for actual combat? It'd probably be slightly better if you could use a combat pistol as a base.

It's good for crowd control -- think Lost Souls + Pain Elemental.  In fact, that was the only time that I relied on my Demolition Pistol for combat; the Stormbolter just out-classes it completely.

I would base it off a combat pistol if I ever found it in the game.  But of course, the main purpose for the demolition pistol was to breech.  When used against enemies, the small-radius fire that it does destroys any items around said enemy, which is not a good thing.

I would still F-mod the finished pistol if I could. That would be awesome.

Did you REALLY need Finesse when you have SoG5 already? I didn't think Finesse would have anything to add at that point, SoG5 should already drop your attack speed to the minimum. Shouldn't it?

Anyway, MSs once again proves how awesome it is. I should try a run like this myself.

Finesse is used to amp firing speed of everything that's non-pistol. It's IMHO plain disappointing when you were firing with 0.1s per shot, wiping 2-3 mancubi per clip (PPPBB combat pistol) within two second timespan, and then swap to another weapon (since you found out you need a rocket launcher) and spend 0.8s, and an archvile popped in sight and raised a mancubus. Also Juggler requires Fin1, so why not amp to Fin3 while we already have it? :)

A bit slow to reply, but Finesse increases melee attack speed, useful for the Cleaver.

(Actually I don't know why else I would take Finesse...)

I thought it amps firing speed of everything, inclusing pistols? Obviously, when you already on 0.1, you can't get faster, but still...
