With SoG3 you deal 6*(2d4+3) = 48 damage over 2.4s(20 DPS) then you have to reload/swap to prepared pistol.
With SoG2 and DG you deal 2*3*(2d4+2) = 42 damage over 2.16s(19.44 DPS) and you can continue firing.
So while DPS with DG is lower you can deal more damage before reloading and that often means that you don't need to reload mid-fight.

Yeah, but when you do have to reload, you are screwed.
Besides, with SoG and no DG, you'll either have a second pistol prepared, or an ammo box, which takes care of the reloading problems.

And i assume we are talking about what's best on char lvl3.

In any case, my point is that if you shoot your 6 bullets, swap to a secondary pistol and shoot 6 more, you'll (probably, again I am too lazy to do the math) have more DPS than wehn dualgunning. Since you're likely to be level 3 in the Arena, this is helpful for those times when you are ambushed by more than one lost souls/demon and can't retreat it time.

If you swap to secondary pistol your DPS over 12 bullets is 12*8/5.6 = 17.14, which is lower than 19.44 with DG.
