I've been trying Ao100 UV for some time, trying different builds. At last I managed to get to a master trait with an Army of the Dead build.

I had to leave the game be at one point, and it looked pretty bleak - the only ammo (besides two rocket boxes I couldn't shoot) was inside my fully loaded tactical and double shotguns. When I loaded the game, the first thing I saw was a sergeant. Next thing I see (and I would never believe I'd be so happy because of it) was an arch-vile! I didn't manage to farm the sergeant much, but in the end I left the level with 2 stacks of shells, newly crafted tactical boots, 150 health, a plasma rifle as a backup weapon (with two batteries!), and invulnerable.

Next level gave me the Jackhammer, though I kept it as a backup only, since I still had to save shells. Then a few levels further I entered three consecutive complexes full of formers, and two of them had a megasphere in them. Since shells were dropping everywhere, I could finally let loose with the jackhammer. I wasn't radar shooting anymore, I was radar killing. I could literally shoot anywhere in the dark and the roar of the Jackhammer was always answered by a couple of dying voices.

Then mancubi happened. A couple of levels with bad starting position, some nasty arch-viles and so on, and I finally "rode a mancubi rocket" to oblivion on level 25.

I think I'll give Ao100 a rest for now. At least I got the bronze badge and hell knight rank out of it.

MAD is a bad choice for Ao100 due to no Whizkid and a serious need to have a lava proof solution along with something better than a tac boots on later levels. Also, MAD does nothing for survivability, which is a must for Ao100, your target is to survive 100 levels, and the really serious stuff comes at ~30, when you run out of primary ammo and either have to resort to melee, or employ something else like MAc or nanomodded weapons (MSc). My Ao100 was done with an MCe, with its increased range of awareness and ability to radar shoot knowingly I was able to sustain little damage and conserve ammo at the same time. (But, a nano pack was almost crucial, and has been put to good use on a plasma rifle to make a nano-miniaturization ammo. TH2 has to do something with that :))

Well, I've tried several different builds, this was the only one that got me that far... it's like a roulette for me - trying different stuff and waiting whichever gets me to the master trait =)

I can say that i've done my first UV Ao100 on 0.9.9.6 with MSs. It looks rather good, especially when RNG is generous for mods and weapons. As I remember when i finished I had all pistols that this game have in inventory and something like P-modded stormbolter combat pistol 15x2 damage with 0.01 ASPD helped me alot(especiaaly cuz of knockback) at ~80 level i ran out of ammo, but had fully charged trigun, jackal and some usual pistols that helped me to get to the next level, which was former barrack xD.

After all my completes of Ao100 on different versions I can say that Ao100 is more check of luck than check of skill =). On next weekend I'm going to try Ao100 HNTR with Malicious Knives Cross, so maybe gonna post there my progress.

Yeah, I think I got my first Ao100 win with sharpshooter... Naturally, I've been trying to repeat it, but alas didn't get to the master after several tries, so I tried other options.

One thing I noticed about this run is that you took absolutely zero offensive traits. Aside from your master, this is a purely passive defensive build.

What this means is that you are almost assured to make it to "mid-game" in Ao100 because you can shrug off a lot but your lack of damage leads to ammo issues later. There will be situations where you could be easily overrun because you can't kill fast enough to survive. Also, a pure defensive build may not become powerful enough to enjoy the totally ass-kickery that players enjoy at late-game Ao100.

In short: Early game is easier, late game will be harder.

I do recommend trying a lower difficult Ao100 based around SoB and Fin traits to get an idea of why being able to kill late-game enemies in one volley is a great 'defensive' strategy in itself.

Good run! I may have to try a build like this in Ao100 soon just to see how difficult it really is at UV.

I've already beaten Ao100 on lower difficulties, I guess I just need a little more luck in the early game.

Not neccesarily, though granted it was on HNTR, my first Ao100 win was with a MBD build, and I had no lava-proofness for the entire run. Partly because of no onyx pack early on/no enviro boots, partly because I focused on other things other than WK2. So Whizkid really is not neccesary, but you DO need to be more careful. Also, aside from Badass, MBD did'nt really help with survivability, but it's more in the draw of the armor, which in my case I did get Malek's Armor and a Powered Red Armor.

MAD blocks Finesse, so no WK for you. That's actually what I like about it. No more thinking about what to do with mods.
