New, unique possibility for odd multiplayer format

Thinking of other turn-based games, i came up with something along the lines of chess. Only a maybe more like a turn-based RTS. Two armies of hellspawn pitted against each other, only 1 monster moving per side per turn (like chess) but with some means of gaining or upgrading monsters. (Just a thought to throw out there.)
