There weren't any nukes, I couldn't clear out the spiders' lair to get the nuclear plasma rifle and the nuclear BFG 9000 got obliterated by mancubi and barons in the mortuary, so I had to settle for a standard win.  I could have activated the lava element and gotten the mastermind's brain, but I was getting tired by that point and forgot about it.  I had a single phase device for the vaults, but it fizzled. 

I had a bunch of enviropacks for the lava pits, but I found that I could keep my health at 200% by farming lost souls from the pain elementals and using them as unlimited mini-berserk packs.  Every time I took damage from lava or revenants, I'd cut up some lost souls with the butcher's cleaver and heal up with my MVr while extending my berserk counter.  I could kill 2-5 lost souls in a single turn thanks to the blademaster trait from the butcher's cleaver.  When I was farming lost souls for heath, I'd unequip my armour to save it from getting messed up.  I'd planned to use the ballistic shield in the UC, but I found an invulnerability globe on the previous level and was invulnerable for the whole time it took to kill everything in UC. 

I took juggler so that I could switch between the Longinus spear and the butcher's cleaver depending on what I was attacking (spear for tough monsters, cleaver for weak ones or for finishing off injured tough ones).  I also found that finesse worked pretty well in melee; it meant I could often get 2 hits in before a monster retaliated, and 2 hits were usually enough to kill things by that point in the game.

I had another vampire run where I was doing fine with just the chainsaw until Demos lvl 3, when I got caught out by an armed nuke; I went too far from the stairs in search of goodies and didn't make it back in time.  I got uniques early on in a couple of other vampire runs; Malek's armour on level 2 for one run and the butcher's cleaver on level 3 on another one, but I died on level 4-5 despite the uniques.  The cleaver was nice, but if I make it past about level 5, I'm usually ok with just standard equipment; it's the early levels that usually get me.
