N! Hell's Arena
« on: September 08, 2012, 14:56 »

I'm trying to do Hell's Arena on Nightmare.  Can anyone post the thread with this strategy?  Is there a way to do it other than corpse stacking?

I've never done it, but "pro" mortem-posters have mentioned using Cacodemon splash damage from ranged attacks.

I'm not pro, but I recently tried (successfully !) my 1st N! Hell's Arena. I also pulled the last demons on the stairs to prevent their resurrections :D

I guess stacking + cacos + stairs is more than enough to beat the arena. (but I wouldn't aim for the hell's arena pwnage medal, yet)

Dodgemaster trait is really helpful for that strategy, or just being berserk.  I still prefer corpse-stacking, though.

Other than corpse-stacking there's only three ways to prevent resurrection on HA: splash damage from enemies, killing enemy on the stairs or standing on a corpse/pulling someone else over it.
But i heavily recommend learning how to do it through corpse-stacking mostly, without relying much on splash damage.

I can add some observation: all methods for corpse stacking on N! Hell Arena are usable only for first and second waves. Past 3d wave (i.e. completing level), no resurrection occurs even on Nightmare - they just stay dead :) Any amount of time and turns passed on level. If you can kill them quick, you can not pay attention to bodies.

PS: no, I can't do that, actually :( It was a hack for testing game mechanics

Well, I've done the HA Pwnage medal quite a few times, and I've even comboed it with Chessmaster's Cross, so I might be able to help a bit. Basically, you need to constantly radar-shoot, and if possible, corpsestack while killing enemies near walls so you can dodge shots that will then gib the corpses.

Corpsestacking. Only use a cacodemon's splash damage it there are multiple copses clustered together in an awkward manner.

I find it's easiest with the shotgun, with a couple traits reloader. Keep lureing the enemies to the same spot and corner shooting them, then shotgun will kock them back either 1 or 2 squares when you get the finishing blow.

It seems impossible at first but once you get the hang of it you'll be able to beat it fairly reliably.

Also this may sound counter-intuitive but try playing it on Angel of Max Carnage.
