Not played for a long-long time and only ever got so far, decided to go it a bit easier and go for Not Too Rough, this time I managed to pick up the Jackhammer on a pretty decent run, that thing is a BEAST.

The only big mistake I really made was using the Jackhammer in the Mortuary (my first visit there .... completely cleaned my shotty ammo out), when I should have probably just BFGd my way through - I shall be visiting there again!

Managed to take out the Cyby with dodgemaster and got the Cyberdemon head medal :)

Loving the new version with gfx! Just adds another layer of atmosphere to a great roguelike!

Goodness!  Sounds like you went on a rampage!  I don't think I ever had the chance to use the Jackhammer on any game; I think most of the time when I pick it up, I am on an AoMr run or something.

Oh it was a clean game with no hairy bits up until the mortuary... then it got really scrappy as I ran out of shotty ammo and only had nuclear plasma weapons and I had to dodge and hide a lot while they replenished ammo. Eventually I got some shottie ammo but I had to use it sparingly as the Jackhammer just sucks it up fast (though nothing EVER comes near you with the amount of knockback it does!)

No I ran from the Mortuary after killing a couple of the Viles - I just played through again and got there and managed to down 3 viles I think, then there were all sorts of creatures ressurecting left right and center, after about 40 arachnotrons I ran out of almost all ammo and just pegged it! I suppose the best tactic is to get the viles first but I didn't know how many there were!

There are 5 viles on HNTR, 6 on HMP and 7 on UV/N!

There is a nuclear BFG in the top right corner. That, along with the nuclear plasma from Spider's Lair, can greatly reduce your ammo dependency.

That said, the first couple of times I cleared the Mortuary was with a vampyre build, and it is arguably much more satisfying to clean it like that =)
