Praise be to the RNG!
« on: February 07, 2013, 18:33 »

Every Roguelike player out there knows the RNG can be cruel. But one doesn't always hear so much about its generosity.

Therefore, I'd just like to start off by thanking the RNG, for gracing me with two Nuclear Plasma Rifles (from the Spider Lair and Vaults) and Acid-Proof Boots! Combined with Intuition2/Runner2, I rarely even saw live enemies after that.
Even on the Mortuary, it saw fit to spawn all the Viles on the same side of the room, turning what should have been a swirling nightmare into a pretty straightforward firing range for my two regenerating plasma guns.
That run turned out being my first win, basically handed to me on a silver platter by the random-number-gods.

I'm sure there must be a few other stories of ridiculous randomly-generated luck floating around. So, please, feel free to light up your censer, sacrifice a few goat-headed demons, and tell us all about your ideal finds, lucky kills, and miraculous escapes.

Praise be to the RNG!

Here's how you thank properly ;).
And you do not need to thank for the Spider Lair nuclear plasma rifle - it's a guaranteed reward for clearing the level in 0996.

On my first AoMr UV run, there was a vault on level 3 with the Grammaton Beretta in it.

Hope you played Sharpshooter and won. Anything else is a grave insult to the RNG.

Maybe so, but running a master perk that isn't Gun Kata with the Beretta is an insult to the weapon itself.

(in any case, the RNG and I aren't on friendly terms)

Woah, UAPGS, it's been a while!

And yes, RNG and I are not friendly either these days...

My relation with RNG is "tough love". I am given barely enough to survive.
And when I hope for combat pistol to make29-clip storm bolter, I find it... on 98th level.

It was a Sharpshooter run.  Had I known I'd get the Grammaton, I might have done Gun Kata, but I figured I'd try something new, because I'd gone GK on my HNTR AoMr.  (Which took me so many more tries than the UV run that I also found the Grammaton somewhere in there, but I had no idea what I'd come across.)

The RNG wants to help you. Really, she does. It's not like she enjoys screwing you over; it's just part of her job that she has to do it sometimes. If she helped you all the time, she'd lose her job to this guy, and no one wants that.

Oh no. You mentioned the RNGod here. We're all screwed, doomed, RNGod-ed.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
