I tried to save all medkits and my blue armor (gives plasma resistance which is very useful against cacodemons). I also throw knives in some cases. It works for pinkies for example or for any other monster that you're killing with corner tactics if you know what I mean. Usually you have enough time to through one knife and then turn to the prepared weapon - another knife. And yes as it was said - large health globe helped really much. BTW - I advise you to keep at least one knife with you all the time even if you'll find good melee weapon. You can destroy not opening doors with throwing knife into them.

Thanks, the plasma resistance goes without saying of course - provided you manage to hold on to the armor you get at the start or find another one.
The throwing knife thing is something I've never tried as of yet. Thanks for the tip!
