No, the mod does NOT force the DS to drop. The game dropped it normally  by following the rules of the npc. I actually did a run of the tourist mod before I took that snapshot and did NOT get the DS/BA, only Azarel's Sythe and the Angelic armor as usual.

By far the stupidest idea I had in trying to lift the DS up was checking to see that if I happened to die, while berserk, while standing on the damn thing, unarmed, in the hopes that the dang sword would happen to save my life. Needless to say, all that effort climbing down Ao100 went to waste. A tiny voice in my head, which was probably the voice of reason, went "well, should've seen that one coming"...

The thing taunts me so many times in Ao100 and 666. I figured that at least at 666 levels I'd get a chance to get both that and the armor. No dice. Just one of them, and a lot of uniques. With my successful run, my whole inventory was a cart full of uniques, since I went with OP gear that's more practical and boring and effective, with no need to hang on to more than two medpacks.

I actually think I have a theory that might work to pick up the DS/BA. It really isn't that hard to wrap your mind around, actually.

Finally found Dragonslayer + Berserk Armor in my Ao666 Blademaster run. I also read quite a bit of the Berserk! manga

So now - troll mode on:

It sucks! - Here's why:
 - It turns the game into black and red mode. "What is that mod pack there?" Go and [l]ook!
 - "Let's blast this wall with the rocket launcher - doh, it's cursed!"
 - The ripper does more dps on average (If you are already berserk).
 - Unless you are surrounded by cyberdemons, there is no reason to ever use whirlwind.

That was for the dragonslayer, the berserk armor is worse, because of the crazy movespeed malus (-70%). Before wearing it I could basically kill everything before it had a chance to move (Antigrav boots (x2.5) + HR3 (x1.8)  + scout berserk (x1.6) = 2.5x1.8x1.6 ~= 7x basic movement speed, Berserker Armor (x1/1.7) cuts it down to ~4x basic movement speed). If you find it, consider staying with another armor for a while. Even a PTA modded blue or red armor is better.

3rd Edit: Corrected info on movement speed. Berserk gives 50% Bonus which is added to the 10% scout bonus (not multiplied) for a total of 1.6. The berserker armor malus was calculated wrongly.

I don't care much about being spoiled personally, but we should respect the (stupid :o)) sercrecy surrounding DS.

Also, I agree with the red screen, but it's not DS specific... if, like me, you hate red screen, just avoid playing melee.

I think the fact that BA sucks is quite obvious, especially on Ao666 where you can get AOP phaseshift, malek, or a cerberus stuff.
I can see only one reason to wear it : pwn some apostle. If you don't care about it, or don't have the patience to finish a red  Ao666, the best you can do now that you registered DS's pickup is to suicide in lava :)
I didn' use the DS yet, but am currently training precisely for this (well, not in Ao666, of course xD, I just want to get it in UC and unlock those damn badges). Once it's done, I guess I'll just never try them again (and maybe stop playing, since might a level where the game's difficulty kinda fades out)

Agree by all points. The best if you have a Butchers Cleaver and you are technician with MMB trait. And do not wear BA even if you find it. Best if A- or P- modded cerberus onyx armor - you gain 95% resist to everything. Of course,

in other cases, DS only a thing for get some badges, but not a really good weapon. Because red screen, cursed, and not too good by damage. Some modded or assembled and modded weapon have better dps.

I also heard this, but you have to do this on UV at least, with knife or bar knuckles

I've cleared Mortuary without taking damage before and didn't get a Megasphere.  I have to admit I've never done it with my fists, though.  :)

I know there's something missing here that I can't figure out, and it shouldn't be that hard.

How to pick up the DS? All we need to know is how to pick up the DS, the Berserker Armor will fall into place after that.

That doesn't gurantee you will get a megasphere. It only increases you chance to get one.

Also there is a rumor that if you defeat the Hell Gate without any damage on UV at least, a partial-invisibility power up might appear on next level (I think it's a temporary powerup)
