What does Survivalist exactly do?

(1/2) > >>

Heresiarch:
Hi all, long time lurker & player. :)

Just a quick question: what is the exact mechanism of Survivalist trait? I'm pretty confused by its description. Let's say a Cybie is shooting a rocket (6-36 dmg) at me, who have 8 protection thanks to armor and TaN. The result would be which:

A. If Cybie rolled a 6 to 8, then instead of taking 1 damage (the minimum damage), I will have 50% chance taking 0 instead (which seems to be too weak)

or

B. Since my 8 protection is already higher than the minimum damage, I will have 50% chance at all times to negate all damage, whether if he rolled 6 or 36 (which may seem to be too powerful)

or

C. Other?

Thank you. :)

Rajhin:
A. Yep, it is too weak, especially in UV/N! But still helps with burst-firing enemies such as arachnotron.

Evilpotatoe:
A, indeed.
But you also get the possibility to heal over 100% with medpacks ! Isn't that great ? ! No ?... oh, well... I don't think this mastery is powerful, but tanking in AoHu is priceless.

Though, blocking SoB is really...unnatural :(

AlterAsc:
Tanking with 18 hp? Meh, i'd take my chances with 12hp, Berserker and 4 traits of my own choosing.
Honestly i think that this chance to take no damage should be given to Entrenchment and increased, while MSv should be reworked. Not sure how.

Evilpotatoe:
@AlterAsc
No no, I'm serious ! I did it, and I swear it's very fun : http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php/topic,6127.0.html

... but I still think this mastery is crap :)

I didn't even know the chance to negate graze was only 50%... tought it was 100%.
