This took way too long.

The idea I had was, after looking over and deciding that Scavenger made for an iffy all-rounder build, to find out what I considered would.

Oddly enough, Malicious Blades does. You have to take two levels of Brute, but the other reqs are pretty balanced out, and the benefits are both good in melee and not. It actually encourages closing with an enemy as often as running, too, which was really, really good once I got used to it.

The earlygame was a mass of Combat Shotgun work, then when MMB got rolling, I started dualwielding Chainblades. Got Whizkid 2 rolling so they'd make nice 8d3 weapons, then started pumping general skills like SoB. Used the Hyperblaster with a Sniper on it for my ranged combat, along with a Tac Shotgun, for quite a while.

I never really got much in the way of uniques(You can see my hopeful carrying of Berserker Armor, but no dice.), but the exotic haul was pretty crazy-the last 15 floors or so were bombarded with Nuclear BFG spam and the Nuclear Plasma Rifle was really useful. P3/T2 Assault Shotgun is scarily good, too, generally dealing Elephant Gun level damage at long range due to the more focused cone, and far faster to chainfire. Could have gotten more armor luck, two Onyx and no Nano was a bit sad, and it took so long to get the first one that I made a Nanofiber Red (P) because of how much armor trouble I was having.

I had some Phaseshift (A) Boots, but I was taking so much lava damage from that Lava Elemental cave that they melted through repeated 1/2 damage ticks-I could have swapped on Phaseshift Armor, but I wanted the higher Protection/Fire protection that the OP Red would give, and thought I had enough time(there was a Megasphere I had seen in the cave). Was wrong. That was an amazingly scary cave. Agony Elemental cave wasn't much easier.

Sadly was a bit short of the second Experience medal. :(

100 levels of torture is moderately accurate. That took way too long, even counting the hidden breaks where I just left the game on. I can't imagine doing that on N!.

Seriously, though, where did those three enemies go? I realized I wasn't at 100% some time in the 80s, but I thought every floor was blue. Oh well, I decided to keep killing in hopes of hitting 25, but no go.

Oh, and the person that came up with the idea of how Elite Commandos work is a cruel person. It was scary enough when I thought they all had Napalm Launchers, but when one of them hit me with some kind of spread plasma weapon(Either a BFG10k or a Tristar, I was too floored by him not firing napalm to be sure which), I nearly had a heart attack.

Edit: Oh, darn it, sorry, I forgot about the Century Lounge when I made this. I'd delete it and repost there, but it doesn't seem to be letting me. If someone would move that, that would be great. :) Again, sorry!

Nice! The better experience medal could (until recantly) only be reached on Ao100 n!, though with Ao666 you can probably do it on any difficulty.

Oh, and you could have taken juggler, to be able to melee whenever you're in range.

Why didn't you make a set of cerberus boots (PPTA)? These drop lava's affection at the cost of movement speed.

The damage spike from swapping in an actual second Chainsword was so big that I didn't bother. (IIRC, if you try to hotkey a weapon in, the game will prioritize your prepped weapon instead of taking the one from your inventory, but I might have been wrong on that.)

(At one point, when I killed a Nightmare Demon that had just appeared in one shot, I mathed out the actual average damage. Came out to (16 average roll+5 SoB+15 Brute*2)=72 from the combination-a little bit over even an Azreal's Scythe, on average, though it double applied armor due to two swings. Given enough skill building time, Malicious Blades actually is good for damage! Having said that, I probably didn't one-shot that Demon, it probably had walked through a little lava or something.)

I was going to get it eventually if I got high enough level, but towards the end, I found myself feeling like just having insane levels of Ironman was better. I kept getting distracted by real life stuff and I personally lose my edge a bit when I do that.

Phaseshift set nulls acid/lava damage. As mentioned, I had that up until F96 and it was a bit late to make a PPTA by then.

I was just swapping that set on any time it came up remotely, until the Lava Elementals came around. A lot of my play involved having very high movement speeds(for closing or extending distance, depending on the enemy), so the movespeed loss wasn't all that appealing either.

What I meant was the other benefit of juggler - you can swing with your prepared melee weapon without switching away from the ranged weapon you are holding. It gives you a bit of flexibility and often allows you to save ammo.

Yeah, but it would have been a half damage physical, effectively.

In practice, taking the turn to swap into a mainhand Chainsword(for doubled damage with my physicals, due to MMB) was basically always worth it. Weaker enemies always got splattered by whatever highly modded weapon I had out, and I wanted all the power I could get for Lava Elementals/Bruisers/Cyberdemons/Shamblers/high end Nightmares/etc.

Though, thinking on, it would have been nice for Arachnotrons. I think I still would have oneshotted them with one weapon, due to the weakness to melee. And I wasn't reliably knocking them out of range or oneshotting them, and sometimes they skitter into weird ranges due to the speed bonus. So, you do have a point there.

In fact it is even better. You may do nothing. If you have juggler trait and there is a melee weapon in your prepared slot you can just melee attack everyone and that melee weapon will be used. Of course this method is equal to yours in terms of ingame speed, you just don't neet to bother about remembering that you need to swap weapons.

That's precisely what I meant. I love builds like that, though I haven't tried it with malicious blades yet. It can be useful for shotgun builds for times when you don't want to knock your enemies back, and on n!, to be able to drop enemies precisely in a doorway.
