Pick up as many knives as you can find and throw them at rushing demons to hurt them a bit. Oh, and when facing a demon, switch to running. It helps immensely. After the second (or first?) wave a large health globe shows up somewhere on the level (which gives you zerk) so don't forget to get that before confronting the last enemies.

Edit: Also, consider skipping the arena altogether. You'll have an easier time in the chained court and more zerk packs.
