So, technically, I sort of
got this badge a while back. (though it wasn't a badge back then) ;) So, I figured, "how hard could it be to do it again?" Well... pretty hard... :P This is my best attempt so far, and I'm sure I can do it, but it'll have to wait 'til another day.
I said before in
another thread that I'm having trouble using Vampyre to farm Pain Elementals for health in this version, but I guess I'm getting better at it. :) It helped that on Deimos level 4, there were four Pain Elementals fairly close together and I think that having several of them together helped. During the game in the thread I just mentioned, part of the reason I had trouble was the one Pain Elemental wasn't spawning Lost Souls fast enough to sustain my berserk and so the Lost Soul hits were occasionally doing extra damage. This time around, I was able to keep up the berserk constantly and I was able to successfully gain more health than I lost. Having cover and tight corners and places to run helped too for any time the Lost Soul numbers became overwhelming.

So, being in this situation, I decided that it was an excellent opportunity to pad my kills, so I decided that I would hang out there until I got my ratio up to around 95% before continuing on, so that if I needed to do some stair-diving, I would still be above 90% and get the badge. Once I reached my goal of 95% kills, I noticed from the character screen that I had taken around 6000 damage, so I thought, "hey, this is an excellent opportunity to get Iron Skull too, and I'm probably never going to do this again!" :P So I continued to hang out, killing Lost Souls, intending to leave when I had taken
over 9000 damage. I didn't do it all in one go; I didn't want to get tired or bored and mess up, so I took frequent breaks to eat, watch a movie, sleep, work, shop, etc. and came back periodically to kill a bunch more Lost Souls at a time.

In the end, I died due to my stupidity, forgetting what I had planned to do and forgetting what resources I had. I faced the Cyberdemon berserk, and my original plan was to Chainsaw him nearly to death and finish him off with my fists, but I completely forgot about my Chainsaw and just went in with fists flying. At the end, he was wounded and I had 10% health and I was concerned that my last med pack wouldn't be enough to finish him, so, figuring that every second counts, I took a step back, going around a corner, thinking that he would take a step toward me and during that second, I could heal myself and resume fighting. Instead, he shot a rocket at me and killed me. :(
A disappointing end to what was a very promising game.
