 119 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 83 of those were killed.
 1 of those was killed by something unknown.
 6 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
 And 10 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.

 19 souls destroyed the Mastermind...
 3 sacrificed itself for the good of mankind.
 12 killed the bitch and survived.
 4 showed that it can outsmart Hell itself.

Yeah yeah, another win on Light Travel by that one guy.

But yeah, first Archangel win for me.
Still feels weird playing Marine, it's been too long since I last messed around as a Marine build.
But for this run I chose good ol' Army of the Dead, with the logic that, more damage from one shot = better, therefore MAD.

There weren't a lot of times during this run where I had to stop what I was doing and think about what to bring with me. First priority was having ammo--enough ammo to kill things. And of course this stupid game gives me an Assault Shotgun in a vault on Phobos-3. Well, I used it until Military Base, and then dropped it for a normal Shotgun and threw a P-mod on it. Made an Elephant Gun at Deimos Lab after the double Shamblers were taken care of. By that point I had already gotten MAD and started building toward Berserker, and Deimos Lab gave me a double shotgun and a new box of shells, which I used to clear out the double shamblers. Also made a powered blue armor, which carried me through the rest of the run.

Hell was tough though. Hell-5 almost ended my run...several times. Spawned in a bad spot, revenants and hell knights/barons everywhere, and I couldn't flipping hear what was going on because I had my music on too loud. Hurr durr.

I think the best part about this run is that I found all three of the unique pistols in this game.

This is actually the main issue I always have when I wanna play DoomRL. I like gaming while listening to music, but sound is just a too essential aspect in this game. I'd play it faaar more often, otherwise...

On a related note... when you go for a Full Win, don't you risk losing medal of prejudice if JC dies while some of his spawns are up?

Flavor of the day was chiptune with a touch of dubstep, but yes.

This is actually the main issue I always have when I wanna play DoomRL. I like gaming while listening to music, but sound is just a too essential aspect in this game. I'd play it faaar more often, otherwise...

I typically don't have other music up while playing DoomRL, but I guess today wasn't a typical day.
Not being able to hear what was going on hurt me most during radar-shooting, of course. I probably would have left the latter half of Hell in a much better state if I could hear where things were. Well, the more you...learn, I guess?

On a related note... when you go for a Full Win, don't you risk losing medal of prejudice if JC dies while some of his spawns are up?

Nah, when JC dies all of his minions die with him. No risk of losing precious YAAM status. :)

I always play other music when playing. I make sure it's not too loud and perhaps I wouldn't make some mistakes if I played without it, but with music the game is much better =)
