Yeah, I think I'll try this one without AoMC.

Dunno, it may be just me, but MAc just doesn´t work too well on AoMC. Cateye, on the other hand, may be definitely worth trying at this dual challenge.

I dunno... my Ao100 strategy thus far has been dependent on eliminating the need for ammunition, so I'm not sure how easily I could adapt to not using MAc. On the other hand, the intuition+Cateye could make surviving at lower depths easier... or less easy, since floor entrances can be troublesome as well, and without being able to chainfire death at the welcoming committee due to a need to conserve ammo, that may not be possible.

In any case, I've given up the AoMC component now - going to try for a standard, single Angel, UV Ao100 win.

Melee... or a semi-melee build at least. I've had some success with Vampyre backed by a focused double shotty. For N!, I've had most success with MAc though, even though n! means pretty much unlimited ammo...

Isn't Ao100/AoMC autofire weapon strategy basically "Cateye+WK2; keep an eye out for opportunities to build a nice minigun and/or a nice plasma rifle"?

How do melee builds work? I just got destroyed by yet another Mancubus... if I had to close with it, I wouldn't have stood a chance. Somehow they can do almost lethal damage on UV... even healing doesn't help. I almost have to get them before I can see them, and certainly before they get to a position where they can start firing and shredding my cover.

AoMC isn't really the goal here. The Platinum badge for that requires less then a certain amount of damage, which sure as hell isn't going to happen on an Ao100 run, especially with me playing. It was more of a means to an end - unfortunately, it's too much of a liability given my inability to avoid damage.

On the topic of UV games, do monster change tactics with higher difficulty levels? On my AoB runs, nothing ever comes to me. It hides. Always. I can sit there and press 5 for an hour, and nothing ever comes up to me. On other games, I've noticed similar tactics... especially with "special" rooms full of demons. They don't ever come out... until I approach the doorway. Then the whole room empties out and mobs me before I can retreat or kill them.

Some monsters seem to sneak around paths I've already taken and surprise me on my way back, while I'm playing carelessly thinking I already cleared the area. And when I am playing cautiously, I'll radar fire in every direction I can get an angle on, and as soon as I'm finally convinced nothing's there and take a step forward, something with a ranged attack also steps forward and blasts me in the face.

Enemies also seem to wait to show themselves(including sounds) until I've advanced to a position away from cover, making retreat a less viable option then tanking the damage while I try to kill them.

Does this always happen, and due to the lesser consequences on lower difficulty settings, I just never noticed? Or do monsters adjust their behavior?

Cateye and Max Carnage go really well together.

My only damageless mortuary was Cateye AoMC with a nanomach T-mod plasma rifle, which was just plain glorious.

You'd better run on place (default key is ",").

Since default max wait is something low, IIRC, 10, don't hesitate to set it a little higher. I use something like 10000.

Except for demons, which like to get stuck in some corner, and sometimes lost souls, yes.
While this is not always the best solution, it lets you clear levels quite fast once you got a decent cover, and is my best "strategy" on UV so far.

As melee fighter, I think rushing in is most of the time better. just proc your zerk and clear everything. MMB might be an exception, since it's not limited in time.

AoMC+Ao100 is hilariously fun. Got to floor 17 with a Shottyhead build. So much fun.
I just need to find a build I'm comfortable playing as.

Can't comment on UV, but Cateye+WK2 builds work quite nicely in centurial carnage.

But Cateye means no Ammochain for ammo sustain, and no Scavenger for better nanopack chances... Sure, it's a great build for killing safely, but you need ammo to do that. It also doesn't help on level spawn, when you're surrounded by a Vile-Revenant pack on one side and an Arachnotron swarm on the other...

Pistols have pretty good ammo sustain. And melee builds. ;)

I quite like Cateye Dualgunner since Cateye requires Intuition, and I end up getting Intuition practically right off the bat. The problem I have with UV 100 is that freaking BARONS start appearing starting floor 5.

since you might happen to find a chaingun or shotgun before level 5 they are hardly a problem unless you are surrounded at spawn in an open area

given how few bullets you need for killing due to guaranteed max damage, ammo is never an issue unless you use minigun+triggerhappy3 even for formers

everything in AoMC revolves around how unlucky are your spawns, after you get hold of some phases (in AoMC phases>>>>meds) not even those matter
