[0.9.9.7 mac osx] Console mode is not working

This issue was reported in 0.9.9.6 (see http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php/topic,5906.0.html )
 and looks like still present.
I want the good old ASCIIs back, if you need osx tester, please let me know via doiluvu_at_gmail.

Console mode is actually unsupported on OS X. I found no way to sensibly make it workable from a regular installation :/.
