Alternative Background Music for DoomRL
LuckyDee:
Since I am very much into music and curious as to what bands and styles other players like, here's a mental excersize for you: let's say Doom(RL) came without a musical soundtrack, just the option to insert whatever you'd want to listen to. What bands/songs/styles/etc would you add?
Here's a couple of my thoughts:
Tool - Pushit
Rammstein - Du Riechst So Gut
Millionaire - I'm on a High
Air - Clouds Up
At The Drive-In - Arcarsenal
Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity
Tool & Air mainly for the atmoshpere of the songs; Rammstein, Millionaire and ATDI for the cojones plus the fact that they have something unique to their sound, and DEP because it's really really twisted (this is one of their 'lite' songs), much like the mindset DoomRL requires.
How bout'chu?
Sereg:
Well, I had turned off the ingame music(as usual) the other day, and was playing some Children of Bodom (on low volume to avoid interfering with critical ingame sounds) in the background. It seemed to fit rather well.
ZicherCZ:
Well, there are certainly some songs that thematically fit really well.
Phobos Base Entry: Sabaton - Primo Victoria (starting with the words "Through the gates of Hell ...")
Hell Arena: Arakain - Gladiator
UnChained Court: Hammerfall - Unchained
The Wall: Guess what ;)
Tower of Babel: Rage - Sent By The Devil
Unholy Cathedral: Slayer - Angel of Death
Lava Pits/Mt.Erebus: Metallica - Fight Fire With Fire
Phobos Anomaly: Gamma Ray - Somewhere out in Space (somehow it fits there :) )
Mortuary/Limbo: Rage - Straight to Hell
I could definitely think of more :).
