Hello, i registered here just so i can fix this WEIRD Problem i encountered. after a short time (1-3 mins) the game starts hanging: not like LAGGING but my character wont move at all. my mouse disappears while that happens. but all the effects like Water etc. continue while my game is hanging. it happens after i take 4-6 footsteps and is pretty annoying since i have to get to the next Stairway just so i can get out.

I would like to know if others happen to encounter this too or if it is just me. its not Hardware Problems for sure

I see that you are running the graphics version.  That one might have more issues with hardware than you would expect -- could you post details like what your graphics card is?  That might help.

The other thing is to try running it in ASCII/console mode and see if the same problem occurs.  If it doesn't, then it is very likely related to the graphics code and/or hardware.

Keyboard can behave strangely if you switch it to a different language or toggle Caps Lock.

Similar thing (possibly) happens to me everytime I alt+tab out and back in the game. Shift+Alt ingame to change languages fixes it for me :-)

could you post details like what your graphics card is?  That might help.

I use an Ati Radeon HD5450

I use an German Keyboard just btw. i will try changing Caps Lock, Language etc. does it help if i change my Keyboard Language to English?

Well, for me it just help to change the language, doesnt matter if from english or back to english. Just the action of changing it helps for me. But I really dont know if your problem is the same.

Changing my Keyboard language does not help at all, all i can do if i lag out is press the Windows Button whenever it lags and run for the next Stairway, It also helped alot when i played in Window Mode

The Lag is common in the Hell Arena and in HELL itself

I have found that just pressing 'Alt' fixes this for me.

I also have this issue with an XP machine when running graphical mode. It works fine for a minute or two, then begins to hang for 5 - 15 seconds between each turn. 32 bit, Radeon X1600, Athlon 64 3200+. German keyboard as well, but changing the keyboard settings does not appear to have any effect. Performance logs show the CPU spiking to 100% when this freeze happens.

I'm using XP too.
The only problems I get are when I tab. I sometimes lose keyboard input, or have weird things like this. Usually, tabbing again fixes it.
My game might also have stopped a few times, but it's rather rare, and I never have any problem if I don't use alt-tab.

Yeah, I've also experienced the issue after alt-tabbing back into the game, but it's not a big deal. A lot of games behave funky after alt-tabbing.
