-- General ---------------------------------------------------

 Before him 16 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 14 of those were killed.

 Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
 Is he immortal? 2 souls claim to have killed him...
 1 killed the bastard and survived.
 1 showed that it can outsmart hell itself.

--------------------------------------------------------------

If some bastards hadn't rushed me in the starting room on someteenth level, I'd have %100 kills.
Isn't 5 viles per level a bit too much? I'm just saying.

How can people progress on UV without abusing cateye?

By abusing Intuition instead ^^
AFAIR, Blade's the only one to have won on UV without Intuition (or Cateye), but on the other hand, I haven't been asking around much, so there may be a hidden cult of DoomRL masters :P

And good job! :)

I actually never take Intuition or Cateye anymore. When you have played the game enough you get to understand the movements of the enemies so that you don't need them.

My typical UV build goes like this:
Iro->Iro->Iro->TaN->HR->Fin->EE->Fin->Fin->HR->HR->

My typical UV AoMr build (the way I play the most) goes like this:
SoG->SoG->DG->Iro->Iro->DG->SoG->Fin->EE->Iro->HR->

I have learned that speed (Fin) makes a huge difference in the game. I usually go the Chaingun route, so if I can unload rounds faster than the enemy can react, then I win and take little or no damage.

You take IM*3, for your *FIRST* *THREE* skill?!
I certainly wasn't expecting that :) Why? What's your game mentality?

Have you beaten UV these ways (on 0.9.8.5)?

Nowadays I avoid Intuition too, but have only beaten HMR this way, for now :)
My first traits are always weapon enhancers - combos of Reloader and Eagle Eye, possibly coupled with Shottyman (if I encounter a DblSG) and SoaB, and I'll try adding Finesse, considering your warm recommendations :) TaN's what often comes next.

For me, survival is my number 1 priority, particularly on UV. When you start running into Hell Knights and Cacos on level 3 and Arch-Viles on level 9 you need as much health as you can get. It doesn't matter how fast you can move or shoot if you are dead. :) On the other hand, I usually have my third level before I'm done in the arena, so the levels come pretty quickly and I can move on to other "enhancement" skills.

Yes, I've beaten UV 4 times now (1 Marksmanship, 3 regular). I have 1 regular UV win with the current production build and the other 3 with the current beta. The beta made the Marksmanship win a little easier (possible) with the moddable Advanced Pistol.

Well, my mentality goes that if all my enemies hit the ground before their triggers, then I don't need those additional HPs :)
And if Finesse is as good as you say, I'm expecting this to become much easier an idea to implement :P

Nice :) Dude, post your [off-beta] mortems (or am I missing something?)!

While I'm at it, any idea when the next version's coming out? How buggy is it right now, how much's left to add?
