OK, so, motivated by Moonshine Fox's thread, I decided to give AoMr a go.

Running out of ammo sucks. Even if I had noticed my ammobox was low, nothing ever showed up for it in the last 5 levels anyway. I wonder if I should've noticed and put my last 2 points into brute, I tried to punch him to death with the lava elemental but I didn't scratch him.

Sharpshooter was kinda fun but I'm thinking it's not my style. I should go back to perfecting my Marine Nuclear Plasma Rifle build. Step #1: Wait for the RNG to give you one.

I also really need to practice cornershooting with pistols, I tended to skip a lot of the special levels because I knew I couldn't handle them. :c

38 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 31 of those were killed.
1 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
And 5 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.

 1 souls destroyed the Mastermind...
1 showed that it can outsmart Hell itself.

I'm used to SoG 3->EE 3-> MSs, and it works out quite well (and when it doesn't, a Hell Knight/Baron blows me up)

Good try though, looks like you also experimented with a variety of different weapons.
Another pistol build that's received generally positive feedback is Cateye Dualgunner for Scouts, though I've never had any success with that build in particular.

Sad story. Though it confirms that the storm bolter is an ammo-devourer. If you'll ever have the chance, try a P-modded high power combat pistol, or a P3-modded combat pistol. Both of these are 3d6 and are true miracles in conjunction with MSs.

Also, why didn't use the plasma shield? It's 95% plasma resistance would at least give you slightly longer survival time. Also, Nyarlaptotep Boots - why you didn't wear those for he movement speed boost?

Yeah, I can definitely say that while the Storm Bolter pistol is great for damage, it just EATS ammo and down in hell there's a really big lack of 10mm ammo. I'm thinking of just skipping assemblies at all and just P-mod the crap out of whatever gun I can find. There's actually a lack of hard-hitting pistols for MSs, I've noticed :/

I wouldn't be so pessimistic. Even a normal high power pistol is 2d6, which means 15 damage with MSs (compared to 11 of an unmodded pistol) and 17 with SoG5. The need for realoding more often is well balanced by its damage and enemies' armor being factored less often. This basic assembly was enough for me to win Ao100 with, at least, and it's available almost right off the bat.

Also, I don't really agree on the scarcity of 10mm ammo, I finished whole Arch666 with Grammaton Cleric Berreta on semi-auto mod, and rarely had to worry about running out. All you need is one former captain and an arch-vile to ressurect him few times :)

Well okay then what have we got here

well then

This is not how 'scarcity' works. I could say health wasn't a problem either - if I could just duplicate large medpacks.
But that wouldn't be relevant for whether or not large medpacks are scarce or not - because I got them through exploits, which should have no reflection on the actual game.

Well you can consider it exploiting the game but then again, you could say the same about cornershooting. I prefer to see it as a feature of the game, rather then an exploit (like savescumming).

Also, you can't  duplicate medpacks unlike ammo, if ressurected guys didn't drop it, archviles would be even greater pain in the ass :-)

The way to deal with bullet scarcity is to hamster it in the early part of the game when it's plentiful. Don't be afraid to carry around like 5-6 spare stacks.

Isn't it about time for you to change your personal text into something like "<3 Nuclear Plasma"? ;)

Oh, and tapping into FlamingTP's Simpsonian streak: "Nucular. It's pronounced nucular."

Ah, where are the times of old when you could assemble a nanomanufacture ammo BFG9000 (or how exactly was it called) ... Now that was a true "Self replenishing superheated material thrower".
