Agreed with pretty much all of the above.  Especially Aki's suggestions on how to "fix" the BFG.

Tormuse:
Same here.  From the very first time I used one, I've never been impressed by the BFG.  It's very rare that I use the BFG for pretty much all the reasons stated above.
