So when I've gotten to the point where I can reliably beat the game even on challenge modes (AoSh, AoMr, AoB and AoMC done now) even with a full victory, it feels like I need to step up the difficulty. I expect to be horribly murdered.

This game was an absolute cakewalk. I was rarely threatened at all, as everything just MELTED under the damage output of Triggerhappy-boosted auto weapons. I started out with a high powered Chaingun, changed that out for a Minigun in the Armory (that thing kicked ARSE), and then just used a stock Plasma Rifle until I found enough packs to make it a high powered one. That's when I found out that autos with too much damage suck. Big time. The knockback on that thing reduced its damage from "facemelting" to "puny". So I picked a new one up and applied a firestorm pack instead. MUCH better.

The rest is history.

Yeah, knockback is not your friend with rapidfire. 12 is the magic number here.

I can add that after three runs as Technician aiming for Sharpshooter, I've died thrice on the last Hell Knight in Hell's Arena on HMP. This'll take some getting used to :P

HMP is a bitch, I must admit though that I have yet to bring my A game to DOOMRL. I tend to go fast and take risks just because thats my usual style of play. could probably win a lot more games if I carefully calculate all my runs in the future. 2 shamblers is nearly impossible when going shotty even with MAD unless you get lucky. I didn't even try to enter hells arena.

Sharpshooter has the hardest beginning among pistol builds, due to low damage. And might be not worth it, Scavenger or masterless Dualgunner is not worse.

It adds 2 shots for no cost. A Firestorm weapon pack is one of the best mods that you can put on a rapid-fire weapon, especially if you do it after an assembly.

Even more so for the plasma rifle because plasma damage ignores half of armor. It also doesn't add any shooting cost to ammochain.

This has inspired me to do an ammochain run, my first attempt landed me dead at the city of skulls though, not very friendly without a shotgun.

Abyssal planes isn't bad with an ammochain build assuming you have a modded plasma rifle for the agony elemental. The city of skulls, however, is a totally different story.

Generally speaking, unless you have a T modded plasma rifle and some ranks in Finesse I probably wouldn't go there. You can make the most out of not having eagle eye by positioning your rifle's trajectory over multiple skulls and since skulls don't resist plasma you should be able to kill them within 1-2 shots by that stage. Your firing speed should keep you relatively safe in that situation then. Still wouldn't be ideal.

Another situation would be a lucky phase device/homing phase to get you away from the centre so you can pick them off one volley at a time.

Apart from that, probably wouldn't go there.

Ammochain = Two free shots at no extra ammo usage.
Angel of Max Carnage = Said two shots do max damage, which is a free extra 14 damage per salvo.

For this particular run, it was as optimal as it gets.

So, F-modded plasma rifle has 8 shots, +2 from Triggerhappy, and only uses one ammo. Since it's AoMC, each shot does 7 damage. 10 shots at 7 damage, is 70 damage per salvo. Melts most stuff in one salvo.

yeah, noticed this when I turned one plasma rifle into a High Powered one. I quickly realized then that more shots >>>>>>>>>>> more damage :D

That's...genius. Thank you! I think I'm going to have a LOT of use for that up ahead, since I'm somewhat into rapids these days.
