Yes, the 10 levels were mostly from piles of Arachs in caves.

What I meant about farming XP from AVs was that you get XP for killing anything they raise, so if I kill a Baron or Arach and an AV raises it, I can kill it again and regain the experience. Since I already had all the melee perks I wanted, though, it wasn't worth the time.
