- It seems the mystery of where the scepter is to be left has been solved, Isirius remarks equally casually. He then proceeds to examine the rest of the room, working his way from the writing outward.

If his knowledge of the Primordial language enables him to decipher part of the writings, that will naturally be the first thing to catch his attention.

I'm afraid you're not going to learn anything new there. Gosok also knows Primordial, the info about outer circle is what he managed to glean due to that knowledge. So essentially you can learn... what he did.

- So if we are to place the scepter upon that column, what do you expect will happen? Isirius asks Gosok. - At least the half elf I took it from seems to have been able to wander in here and pluck it off its altar without having been turned into an impressively sized icy stalagmite...

At that thought, Isirius inspects the room again, looking for people encased in ice.

Quill, meanwhile, retrieved the sceptre from her belt and was eyeing the thing suspiciously.

"Quill has doubts about this..."

Gosok signs, staring at the top of the pillar.

Berak, who has been watching the others examining the room, steps closer and says:

- It is highly unlikely that putting the Scepter into the column would have any effect. Any magic that would have made it possible is no longer active. Consider this: The column and the scepter most likely kept this place frozen. Why do you think the Winter King sent the ship to fetch the scepter? I doubt his intention is to get frozen again. He would not just give us such an obvious chance to make that happen. He most likely wants the scepter to end up in his own hands.

After a moment's thought, he continues.

- Also, we should not forget that part of our reason for being here is making sure of Winter King's intentions. Should he prove to be a threat to the lands, it would be advisable to not let him have the scepter.

"Well, nothing's going to happen if we just all stand here.  Quill, please put the sceptre into the pillar.  Pelor will protect us," Marek said, eying the Kobold.

Turning to face Marek.

- Wait, think about it a bit. What is it that you hope to gain by placing the scepter into the pillar? I think we should leave it be. At best, it would do nothing, at worst, it is a trap. Lets see what is behind these doors first. Perhaps later we will have a reason to try the pillar.

Turning to Quill.

- Perhaps it would be best you hide the scepter for now. Just in case.

"Quill trusts Bahamut more for protection. And Quill wants to know how we are going to get back. We should find the king and make sure he makes the horrible cold stuff go away. THEN he can have his ice stick back," she said, tucking the sceptre under her cloak for the time being, then heads over to open the door.

The door seems to be a bit stuck, but not stuck enough to withstand push made with all of Quill's superkobold strength. It creaks open and a wave of warm air bursts through, bringing with a scent of rich foods and wood smoke. Beyond the door you see the source of those scents - a table laden with plates of food and goblets of drink, standing in a room lit and warmed by burning braziers. Behind the table sits a bearded man dressed in furs, accompanied by demure young woman and a pair of hunting hounds lazily lying at their feet. The man turns his head towards the door and speaks to Quill:
- Come right in, along with your friends and rest after your journey. Just close the doors behind you before the cold from outside sets in.

For some reason, Isirius feels the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. He lingers in the doorway for a moment, asking - And who, pray tell, do we have the privilege of being received by? His face does not at any moment give away his unease, of course, but he puts both the bearded man and his concubine under close scrutiny as he awaits the answer.

- Why the very man you've come to meet my good friend. You've come here with something of mine to give back, did you not?

- For someone dubbed the Winter King, you don't seem to care much for the cold. Although your subjects didn't seem to mind.... Isirius pronounces the words so that they sound unfinished, nearly demanding a response.

Stepping into the room, Berak finds the sight somewhat unexpected. Listening to the exchange between the man and Isirius, he thinks that Isirius makes a good point. Staying slightly back, he tries to read the man's intentions.

He also looks around the room, searching for indications that this might be a trap.

Marek follows quietly behind and tries to read the man's intentions as well as examining the room for anything that is... out of the ordinary.
