Although I specifically said "The only assemblies allowed is Chainsword, Piercing Blade, Tactical Armor and Tactical Boots", does (AOP) Modded Red Armor count as an assembly, or is it just modded? It's not under the assemblies list, but if it is considered an assembly then I'm disqualified. Aside from that, I followed the rules strictly, and won the malicious knives cross for my effort.

I noticed that this challenge gets much easier after around floor 25-30, so I'm probably going to try HMP or UV next time. If AOP Red Armor isn't considered an Assembly, then Jason Kaitsu has become a legend(he also currently has the highest score on my computer, beating Arron Syaoran's Ao100 Run). I ran into the BFG9000 at floor ~98, but it was too late to get the master assembly since getting 2 Firestorm mods would be impossible by the end. I also ran into the Chainsaw at least 4 times, and refused to pick up a single one.

I got a question. Does Dragonslayer involve the Chainsaw or does the chainsaw have nothing to do with getting Dragonslayer? I'm not asking for a spoiler, I'm asking for a hint.

It doesn't count as an "assembly" unless the game specifically asks you if you want to create an assembly and the mortem shows that you made an assembly.  That being said, since you invented the challenge, you can make up whatever rules you want for it, but since the original rules specified "assemblies," then I'd say congratulations on your Silver Blade Bandit medal!  :D

And yeah, with melee builds, the early game is the hardest and it gets easier as you establish yourself.  (Same with any other build, really)

As for Dragonslayer, I have no idea about the wielding requirements, but if you're asking about what makes it spawn, then I think it has nothing to do with the Chainsaw.  And speaking of the Chainsaw, personally, I would've picked it up and then switched back to the knife just for the berserk power-up you get the first time you pick up a Chainsaw.

By the time I found the first chainsaw, I was already well established(already had malicious blades + 2xChainswords) and didn't really need it.

As for me trying HMP, I can get up to around Phobos 5-7 before I either run out of medpacks or get slaughtered by a Pink Demon. Sometimes the RNG has the balls to put Pink Demons in the same room as I on floor 1, without a combat knife, and I'll be lucky to close the door on the sucker before I get raped by it's melee. With only 1 Trait point in Brute, the Pink Demon would easily beat me in a Hit-Trading Scenario, even if I was at full health with first strike. If I do it enough(and probably get myself killed at least 15-20 times, up to 40-50), I might be able to breach the hard part.

As for my trying UV, I don't have to worry about Pink Demons as much, but there's so many formers in the starting rooms on almost every floor, I don't have time to kill them all before I get shot to death. Usually the next room is full of enemies too, so I don't really have any cover in melee. Somehow I die much earlier on UV than on HMP, despite there being less Pink Demons and other hard stuff. I'll probably die at least 70-90 times before I get anywhere if I try this difficulty instead. I also noticed that the health kit/globule spawning is the same as on HMP(possibly less?)

I got a question: Who has an easier melee earlygame? scout or technician, provided I can't waste points in intuition lest I get killed by mancubi/arachnotrons before I master.

I also don't have a way to call the Pink Minotaur-like Demon things from doom. What's the Official Name for them? You can't just call them "Demon" since that's too generic and can apply to other "Demons" that look and act completely different(like in other media).

I like to call the Imp Demon things that throws fireballs: "Chewbacca Demons" since they kinda look like a wookie to me.(or at least they did when I was a kid watching my older brother play Doom).

Also: How do I reduce the clutter in the mortem folder as well as the highscore table? is there a limit or will it destroy my game with 2 billion highscore entries? The mortems I can just delete if they take too much room, right? or should I not do that?

Yeah, facing Demons with knives on level 1 is rough.  You kind of have to hope to find a berserk pack.  Failing that, hopefully, you find a couple of knives and you can throw one at a barrel that the Demon is next to.  (Bonus if you can push a bunch of barrels next to each other and blow them up all at once!)  :D  Failing that, try to get the Demon between you and an Imp or Sergeant so he gets weakened by crossfire damage.  Failing that...  well, just try to get to character level 2 before facing him so you get slightly less munched, though that might not be possible on lower difficulty settings.  :|

If we're talking about going for master traits, then the Scout has the easier early game by far.  Malicious Blades trait is very powerful once it gets going, but the lack of Berserker trait makes early game tough for the Technician.  Playing masterless, it's harder to say...  The Scout has the advantage of the speed boost, but the Technician has the advantage of insta-using med packs.  (Something that I'm quite fond of)  Overall, probably the Scout still has the advantage, since he can just time med pack usage for when there are no enemies around.

Sounds like you're talking about the Barons of Hell.  (And the brown ones are called Hell Knights)  I'm pretty sure it tells you the name of them if you hover the mouse over them, or if you're using the keyboard, push "L" to look at them.  (Also, after you select them, you can push "M" for more information about them)

Well, you can delete mortems in the mortem folder if you want to...  but why would you want to?  They take up almost no space on the hard drive, (I personally have almost 1500 of them for 0.9.9.7 and they take up less than 7 Megs on a 1 TB hard drive; 1 TB = ~1000000 Megs) and they serve as a record of all the games you have played.  Personally, I have no intention of deleting any of them, but then again, I grew up in a family of packrats, so I'm used to compulsively holding on to everything.  :)

As for the high score list, when you bring up the list, there are a bunch of letters in the lower-right corner that you can push to isolate the scores in certain difficulty levels or certain challenges; good for temporarily clearing the clutter and comparing similar games.  Other than that, I suppose you could just delete the high score file if you want to start fresh.

1. I'm probably going to try Scout for my HMP Run. The reason why I've been trying Malicious Blades so Religiously is because I don't like relying on timers.(I also don't like to do speedruns, especially in roguelikes.)

2. I wasn't talking about Hell Barons/Hell Knights. I'm talking about the things that have been eating my Blade Bandits, the stuff that's weaker than Hell Knights/Barons.

Lately I've been trying to get my last master assembly, but Standard Game RNG Hates me, and Ao666 seems more difficult than Ao100 on the same Difficulty as a Scavenger.
