[N!/Standard/YAAM+YAVP] Veteran Angelic + Elite Angelic
« on: September 14, 2014, 00:18 »

"Elite Diamond" : Win standard game on Nightmare! with 90+% kills

"Veteran Angelic" : Fully win the game on Nightmare! with 100% kills
"Elite Angelic" : Win standard game on Nightmare! with 100% kills + "Conqueror"

Finally made it! Only 4 trials needed, but since the run itself is extremely demanding,
I spent over 15 hours to achieve this.

My favorite is always Scout, because of its speed bonus and easy approach to intuition.
I took Cateye build, but not exactly; I learned Cateye on level 14.

Phobos Base Entry
Nothing special.

Phobos 2
Former humans/sergeants/captains, imps, demons, lost souls appear. (Cacodemon vaults might appear too)
You must get a chaingun here and stock up 450+ shotgun shells
by killing a resurrecting sergeant over and over again without destroying its corpse.
Basic technique of destroying corpses of zombies/imps is to lure them in the open door (you can giftdrop against zombies to do this)
and kill them by a single shotgun blast, sticking on the wall with 2 tiles away from the door.
The best way to dispose demon corpse is confronting them in the water pool.

Hell's Arena
Basic way is stacking and replacing corpses properly.
Precisely, I lured 2 cacodemons in same corner and kill them exactly in the same tile,
using that near shotgun shot causes 2 tiles knockback,
and, when I have a single cacodemon corpse and a single demon corpse,
stand over cacodemon corpse and wait until the demon wakes up, shot 3~4 shotgun blasts,
and if demon is "mortally wounded" or "almost dead", swap weapon to chaingun,
drag it to the spot of caco corpse, and exactly kill him.
Do not get surrounded by monsters or corpses or you will face a serious problem.
You MUST pick the rocket launcher here.

Phobos 3
Hell knights appear. Standing on the open door, you must make corner shots against them
until hell knight becomes "mortally wounded" or "almost dead", lure them to the open door and make a finishing blow,
as you cannot kill them with a single shotgun blast.

Phobos 4, 5
Cacodemons and pain elementals appear. Pain elementals are wusses with shotguns.
Cacodemons are easier than hell knights. They can float over acids, so killing them over acid pool would be great choice.
Stock up your shotgun shells again.
Warehouse levels and maze levels would be serious problem of dealing with corpses; use rocket blasts wisely.

Chained Court, harder version
Pick chainsaw first. NEVER STAND DIAGONALLY away the doors; you cannot see barons there, but barons can hit you.
If you get shot there by barons, then their acid splash will melt 2 berserk packs, meaning the total failure.
Look carefully their positions by intuition and lure zombies/barons to narrow corridor surrounded by lava pools.
Make cornering shots (not directly leaning on the wall, of course) and make a finishing blow when they are exactly on the door.
The finishing blow should be made exactly diagonally, which would dispose their corpses into lava.
After killing all 4 barons and near zombies, make radar shooting to find Arena Master.
If you find him, run away, drag him, pick berserk pack and melee him with chainsaw.
Remaining chaingunners are not hard. You can lure them into doors, or just kill them over and over again
to eventually drown their corpses in the outside horizontal lava pools.
Pick Arena Master's staff and 2 mod packs. Oh, and don't ditch your chainsaw. You'll need it later.

Phobos 6
Baron of hells, former commandos appear. Now ditch chaingun! You won't need it anymore.
Instead, take their plasma rifles and stock 300+ plasma cells.

Phobos 7
Revenants and arachnotrons appear.
All of thems are pain in the ass, so you'd better just destroy their corpses by rocket immediately after killing them.
After building Int-Int-SoB-SoB, next choice would be definitely Hellrunner 2,
which would be absolutely needed in Phobos Lab/Anomaly.

Phobos Lab
Wipe out humanoids corpses first. You cannot fight nightmare demons directly, it's just a suicide.
Instead, CLOSE THE SOUTH DOORS when nightmare demons are outside doors, and wait again and again behind the doors.
Then nightmare demons will roam outside and step on acid pool sometimes. So, if you wait for a long time, they will kill themselves.
Make sure that you disposed all humanoid corpses (which can open doors and throw you in big troubles).
I think there is no other safe way to clear nightmare Phobos Lab.
Open west gate and kill zombies/imps directly over the gate.
Before entering the huge acid pool in the left area, it's convenient to make 2 rocket blasts on enemies standing over the pool.
Escaping the left acid pool, use running tactics and run away from the room just after the ambush opens.
After killing all of them, assemble tactical shotgun and tactical boots (if possible).

Military Base
Not generated in this run, but basic is to kill zombies exactly over the doors (use giftdropping).
Fortunately, at least elite zombies don't leave corpses.

Phobos Anomaly
Hardest pain in the ass of the Episode 1, especially on the N! difficulty.
Pick everything you needed (including rockets) and use phase device.
If you get in left room, then use the rocket-jump to escape there and kill them all.
If you get in middle area, kill the swarm of enemies from outside and make rocket blasts to destroy corpses.
If you get in right area, kill bruisers first and immediately destroy their corpses.
Lure nightmare enemies in the central narrow corridor between two pillars in the right area, and make cornering shots from the right side.
Use a power mod pack on your red armor.

Deimos 1
Mancubi appear. Again, you'd better just destroy their corpses by rocket immediately after killing them.

Deimos Lab
Outside enemies are not hard. After opening the lab cache, do not kill revenants over the bridge,
as you cannot destroy their corpses over the bridge (I don't know why, but I just guess that it is possibly a bug).
You can penetrate the walls blocking supercharge globes by rockets or plasma shotgun blasts.
Of course, do not rocket directly or you will destroy supercharges.
Use plasma rifle to deal with shamblers. Dodgemaster trait helps you a lot.
Also, when fighting with them, never get into upper/lower corridors or you will often get surrounded by 2 shamblers.
Make sure that you destroyed shambler corpses by rockets.
I got onyx pack+firestorm pack here! My red armor became mighty with +PO (also, do not make a tower shield, it's not worth to do so).
Hell's Armory is an easier counterpart, so I don't need to write about them.

Deimos 2, 3
Arch-viles appear. You don't need to care their corpses, as they won't revive themselves. Cool.
Spare rockets a lot. You'll need them.

Containment Area
I had a red armor(PO) here, so when I needed to destroy imp corpses, I just get a hit by imp fireballs, standing on the corpses,
as with red armor+PO, imp fireball would deal only 1 damage.
Missile launcher is the best way to deal with barons+archviles ambush.
The Wall is an easier counterpart, again.

Deimos 4
Again, spare rockets/shotgun shells a lot. I found a Shielded Armor here. Yeah!
Build Whizkid 2 and prepare to make the cerberus boots.

Abyssal Plains
Kill nightmare imps with plasma rifle, and immediately destroy their corpses with rockets.
You'll need a lot of rockets here, including the rightuppermost rocket box.
On the other enemies (hell knights, cacodemons, arachnotrons), you could use shotgun instead.
Agony elemental and pain elementals are pushover, if you have tactical shotgun and a shell box.
City of Skulls is an easier counterpart.

Deimos 5, 6
Prepare plenty of plasma cells.

Spider's Lair
I was lucky to find an inv globe near the stairs.
The basic way is just kill them with plasma rifle and destroy their corpses by rockets.
Be on your guard with proper usage of covers!
I picked BFG and used the firestorm pack to it.

Deimos 7
I found the Nyarlaptotep's Boots here (speed +25%), and ditched a tactical boots (speed +15%).

Tower of Babel
Cyberdemon is so easy with Dodgemaster, but remember that reloading rapidfire weapons take a lot of time,
so reload them just after you dodged his rocket.

Hell 1
Nothing special. Use a technical mod pack on the chainsaw.

Unholy Cathedral
Kill all of lost souls, and lure all demons to lava.
Fighting with Angel of Death, I usually use the hit-and-run tactics (both attack/moving time are must below <0.65s),
but this time I had a Shielded Armor, so I just needed 1 large medpack to kill him directly.
After killing Angel of Death, ditch chainsaw.

Hell 2, 3
Nothing special.

The Vaults
Be careful that using Arena Master's Staff would cause you fatigue. I used tactical shotgun to kill all of them.
Note that, you should kill revenants INSIDE THE ROOMS,
otherwise you could not destroy its corpses even with rocket blasts (I don't know why again).
I found a nuclear plasma rifle, which will act as a nuke.

Hell 4
Prepare plasma cells and improve your BFG with modpacks as much as you can.

The Mortuary
Pick supercharge first and bombard firestorm-modded BFG everywhere.
I already have a nuclear plasma rifle so never minded that my BFG shot will destroy the nuclear BFG.
Note that corpses resurrects even after you've declared as a winner of the Mortuary,
so destroy every corpses with rocket blasts.
If Limbo is generated, nothing is very different, but beware of nightmare cacodemons flying over you.
At least dealing with corpses is easier in Limbo. Useful tip is that, you have 2 levers corresponding to each bridges,
one will rise them, and you can destroy all corpses lying on the bridge that already risen by use the remaining lever.

Hell 5, 6
Make cerberus boots if you don't have it yet.

The Lava Pits
Pain elementals are easy. Use rocket blasts to kill revenants (which will knock them out to lava pools).
Even with cerberus boots, using an envirosuit pack helps you with fighting lava elemental,
as it will give additional +25% resistance to fire/acid. Pick the lava elemental.

Hell 7, Dis
Stock up your plasma cells, to prepare the final fight.
I found an inv globe, so use inv globe+homing phase device+nuke combo,
to nuke Spider Mastermind without using the lava elemental.

Hell Fortress
Just BFG John Carmack! I use the lava elemental to make things safer. You win!

Absolutely fantastic post! Love it!

Nice use of Cateye, juggler, and whizkid. They seem a lot of fun combined together, and always felt powerful, but I never thought they had the punch to deal with the lategame. I'm very glad to be proven so wrong!

I built Cateye so lately in this run since HR2, SoB3, WK2 was what I really needed first.

To wipe out nightmare Phobos Lab/Phobs Anomaly relatively safely, HR2+Scout speed boost is *must*,
and I needed to improve my red armor with onyx pack ASAP, so I went for WK2 before Cateye.

Also, Cateye is useful, but not really helps a lot in N! difficulty I think, since in later parts there are so many swarms of enemies..

Nice one!  :)  I know well that these badges take a lot of time and effort to achieve; you must have a lot of patience.  :)

I find it a bit curious that you didn't get Eagle Eye!  It's a huge boost to the effectiveness of the Plasma Rifle.

Also, it's interesting that you didn't get the Grim Reaper badge, despite clearing the Mortuary, but I see you got the Angelic badge for clearing Mortuary without damage, so maybe in this version, if you get one, you don't get the other?

Yes, you cannot get medal with its better counterpart simultaneously.

In the single run you can get only one of Grim Reaper badge/Angelic badge, one of Hell Armorer badge/Shambler's Head, etc, etc.
