This is a screenshot from my current game of AoB on Medium diff.

What looks perfectly ordinary, changes when I tell you that this 'h' you see is the ONLY enemy on this level .. (plus, to top it of, there's 2 berserker packs, a supercharge AND an inv. globe lying around)  ... I don't know how likely this is going to happen again, but maybe you can prevent it somehow altogether,

Maybe with i minimum number of enemies per level?

BDR:
Considering this has only happened to me once (ever, and I've played over 200 games or so) this doesn't seem like much of an issue.  Consider yourself lucky and/or bless the RNG for giving you an easy ride on one level and move on.  I'd rather the whole "lots of lava/acid between your spawn area and the area of the level w/stairs" thing be fixed before this, but I'm fairly sure the benefits of having a wide range of randomness outweigh the minuses of having things too easy/too difficult on rare occasion.

call me an ungrateful bastard, but actually it pisses me off (well slightly annoys me) if all those upgrades are wasted and there's no XP gain for me either

I agree that most issues may be more urgent than this

BDR:
Well, would you rather have found that you needed to take a trip across a large pool of lava in order to reach the stairs at all?  I had this happen once and my character died for it....

I also had your situation happen once (as mentioned, though it was a caco and not a captain); I just grabbed what I needed/wanted and moved on.  I'd say that you'll probably earn a heavy load of enemies later on, if not this game then later ones.

Recently in one of my games I ran through a cave with no enemy in. What do you say to that?
