Branching out to othe Roguelikes 2.0

(1/3) > >>

Bormac:
Not sure how active this forum is but I was poking around and saw this thread's original incarnation. And more specficially, mention of an old rogueliuke known as Ragnarok.
And how some of you wanted to play it again but couldn't locate it.
So I did a little internet legwork ad managed to find a working copy for you! If you guys are stll around anyway. It kind of looks like the forum died, what with all the threads being locked. Moderator on a warpath?
Anyway.

I had to do some searching first from Rogue Basin to find their site link, which was of course dead, then I used the internet wayback machine to pull up a working copy.
http://web.archive.org/web/20080318143259/http://roguelikes.sauceforge.net/pub/ragnarok/ but the download links don't work here unfortunately.
But following links the creator of THAT page put up (As Ragnarok's creator had bailed on the game well before that websites closure.) I found the original download link for the game and it actually works via the wayback machine. Behold. http://web.archive.org/web/20070207014403/http://theboyds.com/ragnarok/
But do note you need Dosbox to run the game. Its pretty old and hasn't aged well. But it IS interesting.
I just wish the character wouldn't pick p every item he walked over. Heheh.

Anyway, Hope that helps you guys out if you are still alive.

No warpath.  Posts automatically lock up after a certain amount of time.

The forums are built around ChaosForge's games, so if folks aren't playing so much of if their creator isn't talking too much, things tend to slow down as people run off to do other stuff in the meanwhile.

And welcome to the forums.  =)

Bormac:
Ah, that's kind of a weird way to do it. o..o
I guess it prevents necromancy but keeps people from having extended conversations. Oh well.

I guess that makes sense, the dev has been quite for over a year, I wonder if he is still working on hi game?
Anyway, I do hope the people that were looking for Ragnarok find this. It took a bit of searching to locate it and it s a fun enough game. Shows its age but you know its still a very interesting journey and that's what is important.

And thanks!

Kornel Kisielewicz:
They say he's working on Jupiter Hell ;)

Tormuse:
Considering how quiet the forums have been lately, I wonder if we should extend the time before threads lock themselves.  Currently, they close after one week, which I think is too short a time.

Yeah, I heard that rumour too.  ;)
