hi all! i've been playing this game a lot and have been lurking here and the wiki for strategy/tips and its been very helpful. thought i'd post my first marksman gold with a technician. sharpshooter is a lot of fun, my last run i was doing well until i foolishly took on the abyssal plains and got cornered in the trap room. skipped it this time and breezed by the cyberdemon without dodgemaster

Congratulations, impressive stuff! How did you do Cybie? Or the SMM? Or the Mancubi complex for that matter? When I play(ed), I tend(ed) to rely on either DM or INT.

A nice, clean Sharpshooter win - congratulations! Also, nice equipment you have there, both offensively and defensively.

I'll have a question too, if I may - just why didn't you go for a 100% killrate? You were set up perfectly. All too nasty enemies on floors 22 and 23, or did you just want to have the game done?

thanks! for the cyberdemon it was a combination of luck and good gear. i was up to HR2 so i figured i'd get blasted at least once but it didnt happen. T2 modded pistol + SOG3 gives you an absurdly fast firing rate so i was able to get 3-4 shots in before having to dodge, as opposed to my previous tries at a GK build where it was like fire/dodge/fire/dodge/fire/dodge/fire/dodge/reload/dodge/switch/dodge/reload/dodge/repeat

the mancubus level had lots of tight corridors where i could easily hide in a doorway and wait for them to come to me, and the spider was a total pushover. i was able to put almost my entire clip in her before having to move out of the way

for the 100% kill rate, i was good until hell 6 where i spawned in an area totally surrounded by lava. if i wasn't doing AoMr i could have blasted holes in walls and gotten through without having to run for it, but since i heard mancubus and vile sounds i didnt want to deal and homing phased to the spider. in retrospect i could have probably handled it by starting from the staircase, but i was playing for like two hours at that point and primarily concerned with the gold badge and didn't want to accidentally do something stupid and lose the run so close to the end

Got it. Just for reference, you could have assembled an energy pistol as a secondary weapon - this is of great help against lost souls and revenants, and against inconvenient walls as well :)

That's seriously impressive! I've been doing AoMr runs too lately and I haven't been having as much success, and this is in spite of me going for Gun Kata instead of Sharpshooter. Well played sir!

This is why I've gotten into the habit of taking frequent breaks while playing lately; it really helps cut down on stupid mistakes.  :)  Anyway, you were definitely in a good position to get the platinum; the knockback from that combat pistol would keep any enemies from touching you, and even if they did, you had very good armour and a surprisingly large collection of med packs!  Ah well, maybe next time.  :)  Congrats on your gold!  :D

MSs is extremely strong, once it gets rolling. Coupled with the weapon Khiijol had, it's entirely possible that Cybie had time for four or five rockets, before it fell. Careful timing, perhaps careful placement to dodge behind pillars and a bit of luck dodging in the open (HR2, tac boots and A-modded armor probably helped here) then could have done the job, even if not reliably.

i had it up to P1T2 before going into the cyberdemon fight but even that is really powerful with sharpshooter. i'll definitely have to keep an energy pistol in mind for the next time i try this run, probably for the platinum. am i correct in assuming that if i make it after i get WK2 that i can also put in two more mods as technician? i haven't really played around with advanced/master assemblies as most of my games so far have been scouts where WK only is an option in the late game

It's one extra mod, not two. This works for any and all assemblies - if you finish them after you have WK2, you can slap a single extra mod on them. Doesn't matter whether it is a weapon, armor or boots, and it doesn't matter whether it is a basic, advanced or master assembly - it's always a single extra mod.
