That's a philosophy I'm having a little trouble with. With a vanilla pistol and SOG 2 tops, this has always smelled too much like pushing your luck to me. How does one pull that off?

Honestly,  this is probably just bias from playing almost exclusively on U or N!... I tend to assume that if I can do something there,  it's got to be much easier on H or M. I forget about the experience penalties keeping you underleveled and the fact that the ammo and powerup multipliers are restricted to E, as well as the fact that much of my gameplay is about spamming attempts to eventually achieve a success.

So you're probably right about pushing your luck with the arena - it's honestly not that much easier on M then on U, at least for a pistol build, and when you're going for a single successful run, not just the specific goal of Arena completion as AoMR, it's a very big gamble with not a lot to be gained.

The same penalty as to your vision; your vision is reduced by 2 and the Int2 range is reduced by 2 along with it, so the Int2 range ends up being what your visual range normally is.  So if you can see a pink star, they can already see you.  (Unless there's a wall between you, of course)

Well, the enemies' range is gonna be greater than yours in this challenge regardless, so melee does about as well as in any other challenge, maybe even better with the benefit of the experience boost.   just charge in the direction that shots are coming from.  :)

Yeah...  I kind of get that too; I'm used to being character level 3 (close to level 4 even!) by Hell's Arena.  I think the lower difficulties are still easier overall, though; being a lower character level just means you need to be slightly more careful with your corner-shooting and enemy isolation tactics.
