First full Ao100 Win.

After I got MB working and Wk at rank 2 the rest of the challenge was pretty much over. I found what I needed to make the Cerberus Boots early and some mods to make Chainswords Bulk mod that I just started to main them, the real big thing was finding a Nano mod early enough to make Nano-fiber skin armor and later adding that Power for more protection.

Eventually I lucked out and found the Butchers Cleaver and that really helped my murder spree, I could just start running to things without the knock-back screwing me nearly as hard. Honestly though when I made my swords and fiber armor the challenge was effectively over not much was really damaging me excepting packs of Mancubi and even then they only damaged me because I couldn't get close enough to kill them and then I still had an inventory nearly stuffed with Large Medkits.

There's something just funny about tanking enough Mancubi rockets to make it kill itself and barely have a scratch on me. My only regret was not finding the Dragonslayer and having permanent berserk, at that point I would be effectively immortal with near 95 percent resistances, tho I'm eventaully gonna try for the A0666 to see if I can ever get my MB Techie that berserk just for lol's.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations! I personally never understood the appeal of MMB, although the idea of not having to depend on berserk kicking in to be protected doesn't sound half bad. Guess I just didn't read through the description closely enough. Why didn't you go for P-modded chainswords though? Would have gone from 8D2 to 8D3 instead of 9D2. Bigger spread, but a better average damage... (I have to admit I had to look up B and P mod effects to be sure myself)

Hey, welcome to the forums!  :D  Yeah, Malicious Blades with the Butcher's Cleaver is a fantastic combination, as I've demonstrated once before.  :D  And it's funny that you mention playing a MMB game with DS, because it just so happens that I'm in the middle of just such a game!  :o  (To be posted if I ever finish it; ArchAo666 takes forever!)  :|

I personally never understood the appeal of MMB...

It lets you run right up to your enemies, dodging most of the incoming fire and protects you from a majority of their already weak melee attacks.  It's difficult to get started, but quite powerful if you use it properly.

I read the wiki about how its more effective to use a Bulk mod on a Chainsaw on average vs a Power mod and assumed it was the same for things chainswords without thinking why it works for the chainsaw.

As for MMB the thing is that to me its a really defensive Master Trait. Sure you have that double swing for extra damage if using knives but the permanent resistances allow me to just tank everything and laugh and laugh as shit tries to kill me and just does nothing and the Dodgemaster means that I can just sidestep my way closer to anything that doesn't do high knock back. With the right armor like a good Cerberus armor with Onyx mod or better nano-fiber armor you can pretty much tank anything with a knife because of those resistances and that means that unless I get screwed with the drops of med kits or healing globes I can't die at all. Like to illustrate how immortal I was this run I killed two different Mancubi by repeatedly getting close enough to it to have its own missiles damage it an kill it. It works best on the longer runs like the Ao100 and Ao666 because eventually you will get the mods you need to make what you want on your techie and this trait makes sure that you survive till you can get your full power on.

Yes. Do this.  My last AAo666 started as an MSs attempt.  It ended heavy melee and giant bfgs, because I had to shoot 25 times with even a powerful modded pistol assembly to kill a former human.

Welcome, OP. Nice inaugural run... Ao100s are always interesting to see.  Congratulations on the win,  and good luck on your next challenge.

Just be aware that you'll need an alternate way to kill dudes till you've got your defenses up to par, a good Cerberus armour with Onyx or an armour or two to last you between armour shards or just a really good armour to beef up your energy resistances, ie fire, acid, and plasma. Once your defences are up to snuff then you can focus on just using melee two chainswords with the Bulk or better yet a spare power mod will start killing things well. You'll still want more and more brute ranks till you're killing things at a good clip or put off pure melee till all your defensive traits are online line more Ironman for more health or Hellrunner for more speed.  At some point you should start to get to the point where the only difficult part of killing a good chunk of enemies is reaching them and you should have a nice stash of large med kits, at that point its all about making sure to heal when you feel you should and making sure you remain above about %20 health.

Not being restricted to melee weapons means you can offset the lack of resistances with a good offense: on HNTR, even just using shotguns should get you through the first levels easily enough. You'll just have to wait before you start relying on melee tactics.

Chainsword: 8d2, Chainsaw: 4d6.  For melee weapons, bulk mods boost the first number (number of dice) and power mods boost the second number.  (Number of sides on the dice)  It gives you a better range of damage if you boost the smaller number, so power mods are good for the Chainsword and bulk mods are good for the Chainsaw.  I hope this makes sense.
