There is no console mode on neither Mac nor Linux. There might never be a console mode on Mac as without a devenv you cannot properly access it - same reason why there was no console DRL on Mac. If we ever do a fake console, that one will surely run on Mac too.

You mean, I cannot access Mac console without running a Terminal.app?
Can it be mitigated with a quick hack: create a second app and to bundle an Alacritty or other terminal emulator with a permissive license?
