Jupiter Hell > Post Mortem
[0.8.5b|H|Sc|10|YASD] Reached Io for the first time! :)
(1/1)
Tormuse:
As the subject line says, it's my first time getting to Io, which may not seem like such a huge achievement to some, but I've been playing exclusively on Hard mode, so I'm struggling a bit. :P
The biggest contributor to my death was inventory management when I got to Io. When I realized that nobody was dropping any ammo except cells, I decided I'd have to make the tough decision about which weapon(s) to leave behind, and I really liked the weapons I'd collected, so there was much shuffling things around and testing how they compared, and a Reaver surprised me while I was doing this and I had the Long Rifle out, which is fantastic for long range, but not so much for close quarters combat, and I lost the last of my medkits as a result. Oh well... I'll be better prepared for next time. :) (Still haven't figured out what red keycards do)
A few notes to share for the Devteam:
I've been meaning to say about the opening message when you start a game... as a native English speaker, it looks weird when it switches between past and present tense between sentences. I think the message would read better as "something's wrong" instead of "something went wrong." Similarly, when you get to Io, it would read better as "You didn't imagine you'd visit it..." instead of "You didn't imagine you'll visit it..."
Also, minor thing... at one point, I found an "ADV rifle critical amp," and the description says, "Advanced rifle organ targeting computer." There should probably be a hyphen in "organ-targeting."

Moonshine Fox:
Io is a pretty big spike in difficulty. Especially because of the CRI Bots that litter the place. You can still find relatively solid amounts of rockets and 7.62 ammo from formers and Ravagers, but yeah, shotgun shells and 9mm is going to be in real short supply. Also, if you're still using a .44 weapon by the time you get to Io, you're gonna have a bad time. That ammo type is *real* rare.
I'm not going to spoil anything without asking, but do you want to know what the keycards are for?
Tormuse:
Yeah, I had another game shortly after this one where I got to Io again and was very much unprepared for how tough the CRI Bots were. I'll do better next time. :)
As for keycards... no spoilers for now. I think I'd like to actually win the game first, before I start seeking outside information. For the moment, it's more fun to figure things out on my own. :)
