[1.6|U|AoC|Ma|YAAM] Medusa's fang + Calamity = safe to go 100% kills


I was looking to beat the Angel of Carnage for the first time (had many unsuccessful attempts, mostly problems with ammo attrition or running away when sighted by medusa), and decided to go with YOLO strategy: don't take Reloader as a Marine at all, instead invest early in Army Surplus and Whizkid L1 (for Autoloader), go through Callisto Rift to get poison immunity, and then build like a Survivor with Angry Motherfucker. Going this way (without Reloader), you have a low success rate early on due to exalted soldiers, but spare a lot of points for other things should you succeed.

Run began quite well, with Rift netting me a JS duramesh scout armor and JS marine helmet and allowing me to fully mod my rocket launcher (including setting up autocalibration at that guaranteed tech station), an AMP with "Carrier, Furious" - basically set for most of the game. (the armor was only ditched for necrotic at Dante L2, right before Inferno, and an AMP was swapped by the one that popped on Dante Inferno).

Interesting things happened on Europa, though. Because the terminal message at L2 tipped me about "micro launcher" on L6, and branch to Conamara spawned on L2, I had to pick that route. It's not exactly bad, but you miss cold immunity, and I often struggle with Cryomancer, so Padded perk goes in the sole duramesh's armor slot. I was praying to get Fire Essence and my prayers were answered, in fact the ammo pool allowed me to dare for one more immunity (I wanted to keep my helmet throughout the game, so Acid was good enough). Then, on the special level "Containment Area", two uber-items dropped: Calamity unique and Medusa's fang relic.

And those two defined the run from there on.

As you might guess, the challenge-defining aspect was broken: ammo management was not required that much, all tough enemies except bots die in one hit (and Survivor helps survives duel with bots), Calamity is also safe to use in close quarters (no splash).

I admit - I didn't use Angry Motherfucker most effectively, and instead abused medusa's fang effect to deal with tough enemies and level up Calamity to MAX as soon as possible (to deal with those robots). So with Ironman L3 and two health increases, I ended the run with 83 max hp. On Dante Inferno I think I wasn't hit even once (although memory can be faulty).

Possible BUG I encountered: Ancient died in one hit from Calamity, and I was missing only 1/3 of my health. I think medusa's fang erroneously failed to recognise him as a boss, treating him as a regular biological it instakills.
