I did manage this level a few times, on higher difficulties as well, but failing so closely...

I don't think I've ever failed the wall on Easy.

Medium, on the other hand, I've only ever pulled off twice.

You have a nice artistic line of corpses between you and that last hell knight, though.  ;)

Back in .985, I used to pull off the Wall quite easily, even on Hurt Me Plenty.  Then again, by that time, I either had Intuition3 or I got it there.

Cheating, I know.  But this was back when the only reward was a brand spanking new rocket launcher.

Int3 would not have helped a lot: I hit hell knights with almost every burst anyway. Maybe I should stand back some more... or just carry more medkits when I enter (I think I had two, both large ones).
