I was pretty close to rankup on my old player.dat, so I could try to switch it in and see if it resets for me.

I had previously started a new 0985 game, upped to corporal rank, moved the player.dat to 0987, and there upped to sergeant. Nothing wrong happened, as far as I could see. I posted about it somewhere already...

If I had known this would turn into a bug discussion thread, I would have left out the reference to it all together D:

I tried copying over my old player.dat when I first installed 0.9.8.7, and my game crashed when I started a new game.  So it's not just one person.  But I don't remember more clearly.
