Kornel, i think you should be nominated for Nobel Prize for creation of TERNGoD(Truly Evil Random Number Generator of DooM). Main features:
1) It generates many-many powerups on levels with only 1 or 2 monsters.
2) All med-packs and good armor are generated right next to items-picking enemies.
3) If no, then they are generated next to big groups of barrels. And it places an enemy that could explode them in position, when he would see you only when you are in center of this barrels. The same thing with powerups.
4) Lone monster, that was standing 1 square outside you LoS, will decide to walk in it only when you will try to reload your guns. And in addition he will be fast enough to fire at you.
5) When you have full inventory of med-packs, it will spawn more, and no monsters will pick them up. When you have no med-packs and are low of health, it will spawn them only for monsters. The same with armor. The more you have - the more TERNGoD spawns.))
And that's not all.))
Ok, now about game. It's really easier to survive in Beta than in 0987, but not as easy as in 0985. Damage increment of SoaG helps on first levels, but still AoMr is a game, where you need to survive 10 very hard first levels to get mods and traits that you need to make last 15 levels easy as a walk in a park.
What about normal game. Ability to apply 1 mod is very-very nice, it helps a lot and not creates disballance. SoaB damage increment is absolutely must-have thing for CG and PR players. CG with Speed mod and SoaB*3 could kill HoK or Cacodemon by 2 bursts without any chance for them to retaliate. It not makes any disballance too, at least on UV, UV is still hard and very luck-dependant.
Fixed Arena level type rules, it's like little Mortuary with a less amount of monsters and without reward.)) But now at least, without bug, it's passable and clearable.
I don't know, but imho we still need something to make game easier. Even with damage bonus from SoaB, UV is very hard. Maybe lower to-hit chance of monsters a little?
