-- General ---------------------------------------------------

Before him 10 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 9 of those were killed.
And 1 couldn't handle the stress and commited a stupid suicide.

--------------------------------------------------------------

This is my first victory, on the 11th game! :-) I didn't make it very far in my first 9 games (level 4 or 5 max.). On the 10th one, I got to level 15, where I was blasted by some arachnotrons really quickly when my armor got broken, as I hadn't picked any level at Tough as nails - this was why I maxed Tough as nails in this game.

Regarding this game, it was a strange one... I couldn't find a rocket launcher until level 15 (and I try not to explode any barrels unless I know there are no items in their radius), so I couldn't kill anyone in the Wall (but I did clean that level on the other game), and I couldn't go pass the locked doors at the Halls of Carnage, which meant no BGF for me in the whole game. In fact, I found a plasma rifle before the rocket launcher. Also, I didn't find any phase devices at all.

I just killed 399 out of 428 hellspawn, because of the closed areas at the Wall and the Halls of Carnage. I did clear any other level, though.

On a side note, I didn't pull any levers at all, because in my last game, one of the levers that I pulled filled the WHOLE level with acid, so pulling levers before the level is clear seems like a bad idea to me, and when the level is clear, the only "useful" lever would be the monster-spawning one, to get some Exp.

Regarding my traits: I got Cateye 2 (a cheater is me! ;-) ), then got Tough as nails 3, and then took Son of a bitch 1 - but then I noticed how much shots I missed with the plasma rifle, so I got Eagle Eye 1. I would have picked Son of a bitch 2, if I had leveled again, but I barely got to level 7.

I got to the final level with the weapons you see, and another 4 plasma rifles (I used to carry several of them so I didn't need to reload them, which was useful when several monsters were around, especially when entering a new level). I also had 4 large med-packs, 2 perfect red armors (one worn), and 100% health.

I had noticed you could overcharge plasma rifles, but hadn't actually tried it, so I decided to overcharge one at the start of the last level, and shoot it at the Cyberdemon to check what happened, because my lack of BFGs scared me. And that probably saved me - I destroyed 4 of my rifles this way, and then switched to my rocket launcher (because I didn't want to overcharge my last rifle, and just shooting it without overcharging first didn't look like a good idea), and after some rockets the beast fell. Well, maybe it sounds easy this way, because I skipped the part about getting blasted by rockets from him, and even getting myself thrown to the north wall, so the Cyberdemon didn't even need to aim at me then. :-P

Great game Kornel! I've had a lot of fun playing it - maybe I can find that secret level the next time, but the Cyberdemon didn't felt like cooperating. :-) (on a side note, the Cyberdemon is misspelled as Cyberdeamon in a few places - such as when you defeat it, and in the end-game text)

Not bad, but dang, you got the rocketlauncher pretty late in the game!

Not bad

i'd like to go as far as saying excellent job! especially defeating the cyberdemon without a BFG9000, that's really good for a first YAVP! offcourse you found a rapid rocketlauncher, which probably helped a lot (I wouldn't want to take on he cyberdemon with a regular one)

Strange ... I had VERY simmilar game just minutes ago - no phase devices, TONS of small med kits on some early level, 2-3 invulnerability globes on first level with hell knights, rocket launcher on almost empty level just after Halls of carnage ... this really creeped me out O.o

You should be able to destroy locked doors with a shotgun.

Somethings rotten in the state of Denmark...

I hope to add more "positve" effects for levers for the next release.

Cool, isn't it? ^_^

That's probably the worst that can happen to you on Phobos Arena.

It requires a lot of luck :-/. I'll try to make the game more interesting for the next release.

I know, I know :-P.

Maybe the RNG is date-driven? ^_^

Yeah, that surely scares me. I hope not, or else I would have even a bigger surprise than with the Run feature (see the blog, entry "My code grows tentacles").

You should be able to destroy locked doors with a shotgun.

I tried to break or destroy them with my double-shotgun, but it didn't work (and I spent quite some ammo, as I had the level full of shotgun shells anyway). I've destroyed doors with the shotgun (or have them destroyed by a sergeant), so either closed doors can't be destroyed with shotguns, or just the locked ones can't.

Yeah, but I didn't know about that then. :-)

That was really scary, I though it would be the end. Fortunately, I did dodge his next shot, so the explosion moved me away from that wall.

I guess they have a higher DR then. Must be a bug :-P.
