That is awesome.  Reminds me of heavy.wad for Doom 2.

thx ... is there any way to implement a function so that doomrl chooses random song?
have to do it semi-automatically by copying random songs from a midi folder to the doomrl/music folder
and than rename them.

Do you make the MIDIs or just find them?

i do not create the original files
all credit goes to the http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/ (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/) community
these guys are doing a great job

the only problem is that the files are stored in another format (need guitar pro or powertab)
i have to convert them with tux-guitar software

ok there are also site where the songs are already in mid-file format
but the quality of the songs is not satisfying

I'm still really hoping this would happen. I made a feature request for it almost two years ago. I don't think Kornel ever gave his opinion on it though.

Everyone else who replied though agreed that making a config option to play random music from a folder for each level would be cool. Especially for Ao100.

How badly do you want it?  I can put up a bounty if you want.

I think it might be a good idea particularly for Ao100 just because it takes soooo long to go through it.

Well, I want it quite badly to be honest. Unfortunately I cannot currently afford to put any money towards a bounty for it. Flat broke.

I think it makes a lot of sense for there to be an option for randomly selected music for each randomly generated level. Even for the special levels. Just seems to fit given the nature of the game. Would have to find a way to make sure the same song doesn't get played multiple times in a row or too soon since the last time though.

Even though the same level music in other games doesn't bug me, probably since the levels are always the same, in doomrl, it does. Hearing the same music each level, but the levels being technically different each time, just kinda makes the music get old kinda quick. Especially since the game is permadeath and trying aob and constantly getting slaughtered fairly quickly, means I have to hear the level one music quite a lot.

I haven't unlocked Ao100 yet, but can't wait till I do and it seems to be a good idea along side Ao100 too as others have mentioned.
