Bug Reports / Re: Typos

"Inherence" means inner presence, pervasion - this was probably intended, as letters 'g' and 'h' neighbor each other on the eyboard.

Or a phase device :-)

Um, I don't like the idea of picking up multiple challenges much... I view a challenge game as something unique, and a combination of them would subtract somewhat from its essence and spirit.

One of the most "interesting" maps are those with a lava pool stretching from top to bottom, 20 spaces wide, and with the staircase at the other side... :-P

When you [l]ook at your enemies and then do [m]ore, the Former human soldier description has the word "ingerence". I don't know what that is supposed to be.

"Your fellow soldiers who went crazy
  because of the demonic ingerence."

Should probably be inherence.

Pre-0.9.9 / Re: [M|AoH|0%|Win] Killess game

Yes, the challenge idea sounds neat :-)

I think that Angel of Peace sounds better, though.

EDIT: To Blade's post - maybe allowing to swap places with monsters for this challenge game only would do the trick; you just bump into the monster, and both of you will stand on each other's previous place.

Requests For Features / Re: Odd new level: Hell's Museum

I never finished Doom2, I didn't know about this... but it's okay, I guess, if you get a message upon entering "This level is full of former humans in Nazi uniforms", and the usual foos (up to captain) would be present. But I'd still drop that Dopefish Steak...

I guess character level 20 is just a matter of a little exp camping on Nightmare!...

About the initial idea, I'm not in favor of Nazis much (though they certainly deserve their place in Hell, right next to Communists), and I'm not sure I understand the part about Dopefish Steak... But I second the idea about 10mm ammo :-)

Oh, and about the pistol - I meant only something "better than Advanced" pistol, as a reward for the geeks playing AoMr challenge. I think it would be better and more in-mood than plasma pistol.

Forgive me straying a bit out of topic, but what would you say about a Hell Mausoleum instead - with a layout of concentric circles (and indestructible walls, to add to the atmosphere), and with a couple of examples of every monster in the game. And after defeating the four Archvile guardians / a new unique monster in the center, you would get another holy relic - maybe a Pistol of the Archangel with some insane damage, or Heavenly Boots that would let you walk over hazardous surfaces unharmed.

Congratulations, General Blade! *salutes* ;-)

Requests For Features / Re: New Traits
« on: January 07, 2007, 08:06 »
How about if the 'Medic' trait increased the healing effect of medpacks / SHGs by 10% for each level? On the downside though, there is the fact that (almost) no small medpacks are being generated on lower levels.

Requests For Features / Corpse degradation
« on: January 06, 2007, 03:59 »
Just a small tweak to curb exp camping on N!, and making it a little more bearable at the same time: when you imagine that a monster is killed over and over again, its corpse gets more an more damaged, until there is virtually nothing worthwhile of it left to raise. So, I'd suggest to implement something like "corpse degradation counter" that would measure the state of mangledness of the monster, and when it reaches a certain limit, the killed monster would eventually leave no corpse. The limit would of course depend on the monster type, but also on the weapon used - the degradation wouldn't be too much for a pistol or chaingun, but would rise dramatically with energetic weapons and RL.

Requests For Features / Re: Intuition and Cateye
« on: January 06, 2007, 03:35 »
I agree that one way how to make Cateye more useful would be to increase the LOS considerably. Other ways of improvement would be to move it back to basic traits, or allow it to spot barrels and items in a certain radius larger than LOS.

BTW, perhaps the Intuition should be limited to a certain radius as well, instead of the entire level.

Okay, how's this on monster retaliation?
Situation one:

B............
....O.......
...............@

Hell baron fires his ACID ball at the marine, but hits the caco that is in the way. In this case, the caco gets angry at the baron and retaliates, because the perpetrating baron stands closer, and is thus perceived by the caco as "greater danger".

Situation two:

O.............@
.................c

Caco fires his PLASMA ball at the marine, which hurts the innocent bystanding demon. In this case, the demon probably won't stop chewing tasty marine meat just because he was singed a little bit.
