Eh. I'd rather see a zombie roguelike focussing on survival rather than how long you can stay motivated to keep hitting the "kill zombies" button. No heroes, just your average people trying to stay alive.

You don't need to use the [e]quipment menu and risk dropping it. Just go into the nventory and hit the letter of the thingy.

First off: Double posts within a minute of each other is just plain lazy. All you need to do is add a line of dashes, type edit:/Edit:/EDIT: (take your pick) and proceed from there..

The thing about the porn version was to both of you.

Lastly, does it really offer that much of an improvement? The most I can see happening is perhaps the walls changing to the double lines . Post a fake screeny of what you imagine it to be like.

Second, Kornel already stated his distaste for this suggestion. Can we drop it now?

Third: Comparing Mona Lisa porn to DoomRL in full ASCII with a background colour apart from black...Just don't.

DoomRL is fine the way it is. I'd rather Kornel focused on what he is doing now (which presumably is not this) than screw around with a pointless feature.

What you think of DoomRL is just your opinion, isn't it ? If it is fine to you then ok. Some people, however, would like to change the look.
Why you call something pointless if there are already people who care about it, say, author of the post ? Is it because it is useless to you ?

Why yes, I do find it pointless. It offers nothing for the gameplay, takes up valuable development time and once again, what the hell is the point? The tiles we have right now work PERFECTLY. There is no reason to have my marine looking like ? or having ? for walls and ? for stairs. Hell, we don't need B shaped Barons when we have the almighty ? that will blow up barrels shaped like ?.

A similar thing happened to me using 0.989

I lost my player.dat after exiting the game. Sure, the file is still there, but the game acts as only my first game happened.

On the bright side, love the uniques. The

The worst thing that a HellKnight can do (IMHO) is pick up several large medkits. Not only are you denied another chance at life, but by the time he looses his you will be left with not many rockets..or hitpoints.

There is no real point in being scared by HK's with 'launchers, their natural attack does about the same amount of damage anyway.

Lots of nice stuff in here, I especially like the whole alien blood burning through floors thing...Gives me an idea for a plot hook

*alien blood burns through the roof and some lands on the players head*

*survivor looks through the hole*

"Hey! We could use some help over here!"

"How do I get up there? The lift is down!"

"Go through the Medical tower, and while you're at it we need some parts for the medbot. Lots of wounded up here."

The whole point of DoomRL is that it takes skill to pull off some of the more challenging battles. If there were a bonus system where you could allocate points towards the chances of a weapon spawning on the first level + a buttload of ammo (This is just an example)...

Step one: Edit the player data file with a hex editor. Give a 9 figure amount of points.

Step two: Make it near impossible for the BFG9K to NOT spawn on the first level with enough ammo to get you through the game

Step three: Post the first ever 100% nightmare full victory run.

Sometimes an encounter with one is unavoidable, because they have some fairly decent armour (See also: Damage Reduction) they are extremely dangerous in numbers.

Usually a Krak grenade (From WH40K) is sufficient defense against one or two of them, but when you start to run out of grenades and ammo...

It's certainly not necessary to clear out the level, there is not even enough ammo to clear all the maps! A good idea would be to grab some ammo, medkits and grenades, then run to the elevator and make your way to the Queen.
