Thanks, will start reading as soon as possible! o/

And why i thought of creating new Aliens? Well... i thought that AlienRL was a more generic RogueLike... xD *facepalm* Hm, just hope i will be able to come with a good idea for something of the beat'em up AvP for Arcade...

Two more ideas. Since the game will have missions, probably it will be more-lengthy than it is now. So, some enemies to spice that extra time...

a) Serpentine. A more-than-one-square-sized alien, it has four claws, a serpentine body with a strong tail and a mouth able to spit acid. A phenomenum unique to the Aliens, it's a Deformed that evolved considerably well through mutation.

It's not that fast, but characters without Fitness will have a hard time against it. It has three main parts: Head, Body and Tail. The Head is extremely high armor, attacks through the mouth, that is not strong, but can do lots of pain through chemicals. It can also spit acid, and it's immune to it.

The Body attacks with the four claws, doing 1-4 attacks each time. Alone, they aren't that dangerous but it's a potential threat if you are unlucky.

The Tail attacks lashing. It's a solid blow which can throw you away, giving to the Serpentine time to go spitting acid in you while it gets closer. The Tail is not that resistant, but destroying it doesn't kill the alien.

To make things worse, the Serpentine can with it's massive body destroy doors through charging. Her weak spots are the absence of vision(it senses based in proximity and feeling, as the Drones do. With a large body and charging, can pinpoint her enemies) and the Body.

b) Nash. Come on, you didn't really thought he would be dead, did you?

While you just woke up and found out yourself alone, Nash has being transformed into a special drone to the Queen. The Queen controls him, and she can use some of his brain's information to make Nash a skilled opponent.

First, he can use with variable expertise any weapon of the base. He has the same limitation as you do(ammo, reloading, aiming, distance...) but carry less ammo, in a result of his tranformation in a part-alien, he carry proportionally less weight. Second, Nash is not attacked by aliens and can command them to a certain extent(attack, run, separate, wait...). Third, Nash has natural regeneration, being able to run and recover in security. Fourth, he can attack at close-range without weapons, transforming his left hand in a claw. In this state he can't use most of the human weaponry available. Fifth and most important, Nash, as being a part-alien, has initially more resistance and speed than you have.

Fortunately, there's still hope.

Nash hasn't being completely transformed, and so can get control of himself once in a while, resisting to the Queen. In these moments, he won't attack you, usually leaving something and running. This can be achieved also when he's with short life, his will to survive adding to the will of not being controlled. If there's a permanent cure? That, you will have to find out...

Also, he can't use Medikits, his different physiology makes it to not work.

My opinion and a few ideas:

Blowtorch: Sidearm weapon, based in NH9, a super-celled gas for space rockets(yeah, just came with the explanation xP). Useful to seal temporarily holes and vents by extreme heat in it, also a last-resort weapon just for close-range(2 squares, at the most). Can also easily blow fuel tanks, but i don't recommend you to do it...

Flashlight: ok. But you can't use the flashlight with weapons...

Flares: ok. Aiming it straight in an alien leaves him stunned a bit by the sudden light. Don't work in aliens that don't have vision as a sense.

Repair Kit: Hell yeah. Repairs elevators, doors, machines and broken equipment.

Bandolier: ...nah.

Night vision goggles: Excelent in places with Low Light, leaves you blind in places with normal light. Also, don't work that well, and leaves afterimages of what you can see moving.

Motion Scanner: agree. Shows in a extremely long range of vision anything that MOVES.

Remote Car: If it has a Civilian Tower, someone must had took their kids to it! A Remote Car operates by a controlling device. It can be used to attract the attention of aliens to it, and not to you. It's fast and has a good range of control. Can have a camera attached to it.

Tape: Why not? It can be used to lock doors, do some fast-repairing and also make cameras unable to see.

Safety Self Environment Armor: "Armor" is too optimistic. This clothes are made to go outside of the towers, in bad weather and while the planet was still being terraformed. It gives oxygen, food and water in form of nutritive liquids and pressure to the body, so it can't take damage of non-Earth planets.

In other words? Now that hole to outside, in the Level 4 of the Engeneering Tower can be used!

Jetpack: Using it inside of the Towers at full force is suicide, but with some control, is good to some fast jumps to run of aliens. Uses the same NH9 of the Blowtorch, and how well you go where you want to is determined by your Perception and Tecnical.

Datalog: Just text data of the colonists. Diaries, spam, e-mails, documents...

Voicelog: Same as above, but in voice.

DiabloRL / Re: DiabloRL Beta Testers needed!

Testing DiabloRL? Count with me! o/

Just beaten AliensRL 0.8 as a Scout(feeling sightly bad now, after reading Scout is "easy mode" in the game, but...) and, besides liking the game a lot, felt a little bored as the aliens would just repeat themselves. The strategy to fight against them all was: get distance, shoot with pistol, if resist, change to another weapon and keep shooting.

So, some ideas, starting to change some of the aliens that already exists:

a) Worker. Great, resist lots of bullets... but in WHAT exactly does he works? Perhaps he could do some changes in the scenario, opening and closing holes in walls... Good surprise when one of them just destroys a wall and enters in a room...

b) Overseer. The final version of the Drones. Extremely resistant, and that's it. He could organize the attacks of other aliens around him, making them stronger, faster or avoiding being in your field of vision. Of course, all of this if you call his attention...

c) Praetorians. The strongest aliens ever. Of course, you probably know the strongest defense ever against any alien: close the door. Well, and if Praetorians could destroy doors?

And now, new alien's ideas.

a) Eggs. They don't move, has good armor and don't attack, quietly growing... if you gets too close, they starts accelerating the growth process, releasing or a scavenger, or a juvenile, or... see b). Ah, it's rare, but twins can grow out of it too. Usually eggs has drones around them.

b) Deformed. When the accelerating growing process didn't worked well. A deformed is slow, weak but can spit acid in you. Acid does constant small damage for 2-4 turns, and keeps pain at least in -1.

c) Hungers. Aliens that aren't really hungry, but walk around corpses of dead humans to digest and prepare their meat in something proper to eat for the queen and other aliens. Are slow, resistant and can do extreme damage with their fangs and claws. The main problem is that attacking a hunger makes him to call help, calling for lunch time. And aliens in other rooms WILL come to the rescue!

d) Hot-headeds. Aliens that experimented to eat ammo and explosives. As a result, it's somewhat drunk, to the point of attacking other things as beds, walls... unfornately, they explode like a inc grenade, but weaker when take damage.

e) Lashers. Aliens with high HP and a long, prehensible tail, that can use to attack you of a safe distance(3 squares) or to get and throw in you things, dealing damage. If you get too close, they will throw you, so they can be safe.

f) Spitters. Aliens that can, as the deformeds, spit acid. Their acid is stronger than the deformeds in damage.

Started as a scout, focused in Sidearms(more damage with M4A3 Pistol), Fitness(more grenades, be able to outrun some aliens) and Medicine(HEAL!). The start was hard, with hunters and scavengers making mince meat of me, but with some time, Fitness and the newly-found ability to close doors, things became easier.

I usually fought in the Engeneering Tower, then went to the Medical Tower searching for medkits, then went straight to the Security and Military Towers for EXP and ammo, also to check out what i would face in the higher floors. That's how i first met the Elite, Stalker and Praetorian aliens.

To avoid being without ammo, i changed between M4A3(normal pistol), .44(high-damage, but would easily be with low ammo), .12 Combat Shotgun(excellent against lots of small aliens) and M41A Pulse Rifle(horrible without Light Weapons training, awesome with it and at close-range). The Sniper Rifle wasn't that bad, but my M4A3 could do the same job, so haven't used it. The M5 RPG? I don't know, even with training in Heavy Weapons, i prefered always more armor than doing more explosions.

Besides, nothing that a good inc grenade couldn't handle...

...the worse part was close to the final run, when i needed a military key, and had to visit several parts of the Towers in search of one. That said, the most thrilling parts were the start(low ammo, lots of juvenile and scavengers...) and the end, without medkits and searching for them almost dying.

AWESOME GAME! ^^
