Nightmare! / Re: [N!|21%|YAVP] UAC Diamond

nice run, the chainsaw stairdives are a lot of fun and can get pretty intense at the end, especially when the clock is ticking

re marksman diamond, i never really got anywhere with that one, but in addition to tormuse's run, there are these two gunkata runs on youtube

And yes, without Int-Int AoMC is a frikking lottery, or a cornershoot fest, neither allows wiping corpses efficiently. This works on UV but doesn't on N!.Go8d thing RNG was kind enough to give me an universal eraser this time XDDDD Also, any info on how often does the respawn happen?

you'd probably have to codedive for a direct answer to this. anecdotally i've seen it range from a turn or two to hundreds of turns before respawning

Quote
To get fire-immune boots you need an onyx pack, this in turn means you need to wipe the shambler(s) in armory/deimos lab, and trading fire with that fatso on AoMC - nooooo, just no.

plasma rifles on MC will melt through both shamblers. after you release just run like hell (diagonally - you should have a level or two of hellrunner at this point) to the nearest cover, duck behind the wall and start blasting away. use your blue armor instead of red and if you want extra protection put a power mod in it, but there should be enough health around for you to get through without doing that

It's actually both.  They respawn more and more frequently, the longer you spend on the level, (that's why I don't like to spend too much time camping at N! difficulty) and they have a bad habit of respawning at the most inconvenient moments.  :P

wow, i've never noticed this before as an issue. my playstyle is set run-wait in the tens of thousands of turns so maybe i hit the fast respawn rate as soon as i enter the level and camp a few times?

great run - dont think enemies respawn at a different rate, just RNG has a bad habit of respawning the biggest nasties directly next to you at an incredibly inconvenient moment

halls of carnage is brutal on N! especially if you have no completely fire resistant boots

this run i usually build to int 2 right off the bat and take cateye ASAP as the vision boost really helps, especially when max carnage negates the accuracy penalties

i wouldn't attempt unchained court it unless i had gotten a combat shotgun (or better) and a box of shells. even then it would be a challenge

hell's armory is doable but deimos lab is incredibly tough on AoSh unless you get lucky with something like a super shotgun. if you're doing scout build you should have intuition and hellrunner 2 by that point which will greatly help when you need to run away behind a wall when one teleports next to you and you can't blow it back with knockback in time to duck behind a corner

if you have a dead cacodemon and dead demon in sight, stand on top of the cacodemon and run-wait until the demon respawns (or until another cacodemon comes into view and you have to run away to hide behind something). on max carnage you can easily use the chaingun to lure the demon over the cacodemon corpse when it respawns - in regular its a lot more time consuming because the shotgun is the primary weapon and you have to account for knockback. if you only have 1-2 corpses on screen in an inconvenient location, try to get them to respawn and move to a more defendable position. obviously the last wave give priority to getting the baron corpses destroyed, if you're doing max carnage those fireballs hurt really bad

damageless is really tough, max carnage or no

i dont think the enemies in N! have a speed boost, but might fire more frequently

142
max carnage + cateye is truly devastating on any difficulty, even nightmare is far less of a headache when your chaingun can kill formers and imps in one burst

congrats on the run, phobos lab is definitely super hard with a vampire build on UV. if you can splash damage the nightmare demons and get them to come out into the acid its not too bad but can be tricky lining up proper shots, and if you screw up they're way faster than you

nice run - if you're using tiles, you can right mouse button to fire instead of F. its a lot easier and quicker and definitely helps if you're trying to speedrun

congrats! jc definitely goes down real easy on melee even with a piercing chainsaw

mortuary isn't too bad (on UV) once you get the hang of it. save as many skulls from the agony elemental you can, clear out the right half first with the bfg, avoiding destroying the nuclear bfg, get nuclear bfg and go for the left half. bfg shots should melt most of the corpses on the ground and if you skull clear the beginning of the level you should be able to knock out a good chunk of the viles before they bring back overwhelming numbers

congrats on the successful run! vampyre is my favorite build to do conqueror runs in standard HMP/UV games

i dont know if you can cut through the wall with any melee weapons. subtle knife maybe? i've never tried it but obviously can't be reliably counted on

great run, congrats on the angelic! shoot for veteran next, that one is a lot of fun especially when it gets going

148
i have hunter as well so those are two definitely doable. break into the 20s!

149
fantastic work as always, which of the diamonds are you still missing?

150
incredible run - i'd argue veteran angelic is the easiest but not using this build. sharpshooter win is fantastically impressive!
