Title. This thought popped into my head a while back. You think Romero would like DOOMRL's gameplay? You think Carmack would like the LUA code? I even considered e-mailing them and asking them, but maybe Kornel is more suited to do something like that (or a senior developer/community member with more guts than I. Iunno.)

Well, I've at least seen a picture with both Kornel and Romero in it, so either 1) he's very good at photoshop, B) Romero has a body double or 3) they've actually met.
-
Cool! Details? Somebody?
-
I believe the situation was that Kornel and John were on a panel together, and afterwards someone came up and asked John "Hey, have you heard of DoomRL?"

Woooooooow what an unbelievably cool pic. That's like, the triforce of awesome right there lol.
-
So, did he know/like DoomRL? I can't imagine he wouldn't.
-
With Jordan Mechner in the picture as well, can we expect Prince of Persia, the Roguelike? Please? Pretty please with a cherry on top? ;)
(No, I have absolutely no clue, how would that work.)
-
I'd expect a lot of dodging. And sand daggers. (disclaimer i have never played PoP)
And Kornel meeting Romero is awesome. We still don't know what Romero thought of DOOMRL though.

Not having a C&D is a subtle acknowledgement, as far as I can tell.

John Romero hasn't been with id Software for a long time, so it doesn't really mean anything. The real guy to ask what he thinks about it would be John Carmack but I can already guess he'd love it because he's into that kind of game.
-
When you get a game made that's based on your game, and that game is a high-quality roguelike tribute, it's hard to not like it. Especially when you're still the ultimate evil at the end of said roguelike.
No C&D? That's good too. They must like it :)

I was tempted to e-mail Carmack about it. Anyone else want to do it for me? :p
