Title: Name That Hamster
Post by: LuckyDee on May 09, 2015, 11:18
Following Tormuse's exemple I would like to burden you with the question of what to name my pet. My wife got me a hamster, and after the initial shock of responsibility - I mean I knew we both wanted one, and we would sometimes fantasise on what it would be like to have rodents of our own, having seen other parents' joy but it still came very sudden - I realised I was ill-prepared for its arrival. I'm now stuck on having to decide what to call it. Any takers?

"Diamond Food" is out of the question, btw ;)

Male or female? For male, my vote is on Denny. Because old William Shatner reminds me of a hamster. Female could be Betty? Dunno. Something ironically extreme could be fun, too, like Awesomus.

Paprika.

I have no idea why... don't ask me why... nothing to do with the fact that I'm about to have breakfast...

Male or female?

Male, and a fine looking specimen too:

And although I agree on the Shatner likeness - that one's gonna stick with me now - Denny sounds a little lame. Awesomes, on the other hand, is a large step in the right direction :)

TooDee. ;)

There is no such thing as Too Dee :))

Paprika.

Heh, my wife suggested "Snack", due to the way the dog was eyeballin' it ><

Best I came up with so far is "The Cheat", after Strong Bad's sidekick (http://www.homestarrunner.com/bestcaper.html).

SmallDee then? :P

No seriously: if I had nuts that big by comparison, I'd be walking around with two medium-sized watermelons :S

Double-post to inform you that my kids forced my hand by incessantly asking "What's his name daddy?". I wish to thank you for your input, but I decided to go ahead and name him after this fellow:

As far as I know English, hamsters and pet's naming think that "Nipper" would be nice.

That doesn't sound half bad, although I can't find the connection with hamsters here.

teeth, teeth! Sharp and big ;) relative to hamster size.

LuckyDee, catch some (1-2 quite enough for first time) grasshoppers. Green, fat and the bigger the better. And insert alive to hamsters cage. Ouh... Your beast not a vegetarian. Be careful :D

(add)
well not bigger than hamster itself (I don't know how big your grasshoppers are). 2-3 cm. 5 cm will be a challenge. Hamsters catch them (in cage or box - easily), sometimes jumping from a good distance. Gnaw the head...  And you will see what his teeth can
