Hi, gamers !
We released a new game with mates yesterday. Not any link with doom, but we worked hard to have a polished gameplay and a high difficulty (skill levels are still in beta and should be released very soon, including a not-even-remotly-fair hard mode ;)).
http://www.free-hard-games.com/tetris-breakout?keyb=en
The concept is simple to understand, yet tricky to master : you play both Tetris and Breakout at the same time, and have to break the bricks containing the shapes you need to fill your lines without missing the ball.
Not intended for casual players, hence, my post on this forum.
By the way, your score will depend not only on your survival ability, but also on your capacity to score combos destroying many bricks, or filling as much lines as you can at once. Planning and strategy have their place here.
Hope you enjoy !
Any feedback will be much appreciated. (and so would be sharing with interrested people or communities, since real gamers are quite hard to find by our days)
here's how it looks like :

Tetris Breakout? Owww... I think you broke my head/brain.
I'll check it out when I have the chance. >.<

Considering that you're a regular poster I'll let this shameless advertisement pass :P.
Also, Tetris Breakout... WTF O.o
-
Guess I have a new time-waster. Nicely done! :)

Really cool concept of a game! :D The game mechanics of the two games work quite well together and I like how you have a degree of choice over which Tetris piece falls down. (assuming you can aim the ball right) :)
Question: Is there a way to turn off the "slower ball bonus?" At first, I was glad it was slow as I got used to the controls, but it quickly became tedious, waiting for the ball to make its slow journey all the way to the top and all the way down again.

Thanks for the positive feedbacks ! I'm glad you like the idea.
@KK
Hey, I'm sure this shameless advertisement belongs to this forum ! What roguelike player wouldn't like the idea of such a brutal game ? ! Anyway, thanks for your mercy :)
EDIT : I just realized I added (ugly) tags in the topic name. Bah, I wanted something funny, but... I'm afraid it would have been quite obscure without those. So, since forum is "off topic" anyway, I opted for a non-ambiguous topic name.
@Tormuse
You can choose another bonus by clicking on those stupid social buttons (**** this), but currently it needs a click at every game, which is, to say the least, annoying (I didn't want that !)
Also, it's just -1 speed, so it won't change much, but I'll PM you some solution :p
We'll release the easy/hard difficulties soon, they aren't completely ready yet but it might be what you are looking for
Also, after having a few feedbacks, I think I'll add something like "maintaining mouse click doubles ball speed temporarly (and gives some points)".
I have to implement and test it before putting it in production, but it definitly sounds like an interesting idea.

I like this idea. It fits well thematically, and it suggests different strategic options, like timing when your ball strikes so you get the right piece at the right time.

Great, now I can't get away with blaming my horrible tetris skills on RNG giving me shitty blocks anymore.
Damn you. Daaaaamn youuuuu!

I dunno... It still seems pretty stingy with the line pieces. :P
EDIT: Also, is anyone else having audio glitches with the music/sound cutting in and out?
-
Actually I used to get that too a few times.
I made some sound optimizations, which should hopefully fix it. I didn't have any problems after those.
EDIT : added the acceleration on click (and phone & tablets playability)
There's still something left to add... I dunno what yet (apart from difficulty level), but I think something is still missing.
