Title: A very Alien PBF
Post by: Xander Morhaime on September 14, 2009, 15:01
Let me tell you quickly about Traveller.

It is perhaps the only system in which your character can die during creation.

Now, introductions out of the way... I've been kicking around the idea of running a game, using the Traveller system, and the setting... well, imagine a mix of Alien Breed / Tower Assault / Aliens Roguelike. That should tell you what to expect (aside from a sudden and painful death with your innards spread out over a few square metres.)

So... do we have any vict- err, volunteers?

I am all for it. But you know it already.

Also already in for it.

Question - what tech level will it be? (for equipment matters)

The designated tech-level will be 12, though I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to pick out only the top-tech gear at the start in character creation. :P

Check your PMs. :]

Well, three lost souls... I think I'll start planning out the game proper, then.

Well we're almost ready to go, but there is a matter of skill packages. Skill packages give us a few more skills to choose from, between the group. Essentially it goes like that:

-First we choose a package - this was done beforehand and by agreement between GM and players this one was picked:

Investigator  Skill  Package:  For  campaigns  with  an  emphasis  on
solving crimes and investigating mysteries.
Advocate 1, Admin 1, Investigate 1, Persuade 1, Stealth 1, Streetwise 1, Computers 1, Sensors 1, Gun Combat (any) 1

- Now we pick skills from the list in turns (so if I pick a skill now, and then Gargulec comes and picks second he can't pick another skill untill mraz and silhar pick their skill, and I pick my second one - kapish?) until we run out of skills. Once a skill has been picked it's gone.

So let's get over it, since I'm posting first I'll start by taking Computers 1

Skills left for picking: Advocate 1, Investigate 1, Persuade 1, Stealth 1, Streetwise 1, Sensors 1

*list updated- Gargulec*

Mrazerty has requested to withdraw from the game, so it looks like it's back to just you three - which also means you can go back to the skill selection you'd agreed on earlier.

Just so we're all clear on the matter - are you planning to investigate the huge wreck that's making all the smoke, or the other mostly whole shuttle that crashed into the colony "fence"?
