I only saw a few minutes at the end, and was being rushed (no home internet), but in the last few moments you spent at cautious. Just an oversight, or intentional?

This is pretty awesome.

Congrats! It took me a long time to get to winning on anything higher than ITYTD too. But you should try to go for Sharpshooter if you like pistols. You'll hit a point where you get a TON of reliability out of your shots, which makes decision-making and risk assessment a lot more simple. It's tough to get to it, but since you mentioned dwindling out in the late game...

All you guys make me want to buy a sports car to validate my life. But I'm poor, too... *sniffle* Anyway, congrats! I wish I could watch it (limited internets), because it sounds amazing.

Not private now, but still not available on mobile. (You'd think open to everyone would be default on Youtube.)

Youtube says that the video is private.

I'm all for the randomization idea, just for the love of all that is nerdy, make the possible conditions actually achievable eithin the current game! No 'oops, I can only get it as a Scout. Too bad I chose Technician this game.'

The Agony Elemental is the exception. That's one of the few fights that's less about speed and avoiding damage and more about raw damage output. In real life, I'd break my arm firing the Doom double shotgun, but if I saw an Agony Elemental coming at me, it'd be worth it. So it's totally worth it for Doomguy!

I like the tactical shotgun for the simple fact that if you ever have to reload the double shotgun, you're probably dead. Thata must be why shotty builds love it. ;) But is it worth building over just sticking with the combat shotgun? I'd vote yes, though I would prioritize it lower than some other assemblies. But I have also found it to be exceptionally useful, right up to the end of Ao100, even.

I whole-heartedly agree with this:

Diablo 1 just had such a lonely atmosphere, and my heart identifies with haunting loneliness a lot more than it does with perilous dread!
As for me, I just started up The Lost Vikings and have been marathoning it the last few nights. I feel like it would have been easy as a small child, but my boring adult brain struggles with such puzzly goodness.
As for what I've been playing: Magic, the Gathering, A hone-brew RPG system we call Project Eggo, and, of course, DoomRL, my favorite Roguelike. ;)

Requests For Features / Re: More Armor/Weapon Sets
« on: June 07, 2014, 10:12 »
I could see a repurposed shielded gun-mount being a perfect weapon for Entrenchment, with a particular heavy armor maybe powering it's shielding system. Scavenger could get some sort of suit rigged with tools, though it seems like the hardest to pull off. As for specific builds, I wouldn't mind seeing items that blur the lines between them, like pistols that shoot small shotty blasts, or what-have-you. That might be better as an assembly or a specific mod that alters the damage type, but maybe somebody will have an idea for a set involving such a thing. As far as popular fiction goes, I'm all for a Firefly reference or two: maybe a set for the Browncoats?

Good question. I find far too many mods to use, and far too few of the useful ones. And my priorities run very similar to yours, even about taking Whizkid. I usually end up making a set of tac armor to go with my boots, since I've found that usually once I start taking damage, I'm done for anyway. But other than that...

Aaiieee... let's not do down the path of full-screen animation support for DoomRL for that.
As cool as a little ASCII doomguy shooting lightning bolts across the screen would be, I really meant a pop-up text that said something like 'Your Megabuster can shoot lightning now! Use 'R' to switch modes!'

...but if you're feeling ambitious...
